Wickenburg is the first stop for most travellers journeying west of the Clarion River from Hadren. The Hadren-Wickenburg Road is the only serviceable Road leading west from the Hadren West Gate, so nearly all traffic comes this way.
From Wickenburg, the Wickenburg-Valorde Road runs north to Valorde, and the Wickenburg-Fairfield Road runs west, then north, then west again to Fairfield.
The Vale of Wickenburg lies between two steep east-west cliffs that narrow it at the eastern end, but at the western edge of the Town, the vale widens out both north and south and affords excellent land for crops and livestock. The Wickenburg Escarpment on the north side of the valley and Waleran Ridge on the south side both reach elevations of 77 in places. The escarpment is actually two cliffs rising one above the other. Many a dwarf passing along the Wickenburg-Valorde Road at the top of the smaller first cliff has remarked on the likely riches to be found by digging into the cliff-faces, but so far no mines have been opened.
In Wickenburg, one may visit the Wickenburg Church, seat of power for Bishop Waleran who is the supreme religious authority west of the Clarion River. It is very difficult to get an audience with the Bishop, but the church is always open for visitors and offerings may be left on the altar inside without fear of their disturbance. Across the road from the church stands the Mitre Inn, currently operated by the barmaid Ellen. Ellen knows many valuable things about the town and its people, and if you ask her politely, you may learn much to your advantage. Next-door to the Tavern stands a Blacksmith's Shop where Kroy Marwan plies his trade, both as general blacksmith and an expert at producing and mending weapons and armor. If you can find him at work (he is often out battling orcs and goblins, or doting on Ellen at the Inn next door) you may be sure of excellent service at reasonable prices for all your metalworking needs. If you come to Wickenburg in search of special lore and supplies related to herbs, potions, and (it is rumored) spells, the elderly Agnathia lives in one of the houses along Valorde's north street, but she is very rarely ecountered since her herbalistic work takes her far abroad into the surrounding hills. Some have suggested that she is in fact a witch, but she stoutly denies this, and it seems odd that a true witch would be tolerated to live within sight of Bishop Waleran's home church.
Without doubt the most curious sight around Wickenburg, of course, is the Wizard's Tower, encountered as soon as you come over the rise from Hadren into the Vale of Wickenburg. The main tower itself is unremarkable, but the sight of a second tower hanging in the air next to the main one, connected by a slender walkway and with no visible means of support to keep the massive object floating in the sky, has unnerved many a traveller. If you have the stomach for perilous climbs and heights, it can be a very unique experience to climb to the top of this apparition!
