From the great West Gate of the city, this Road runs west and a little north for almost 400 lengths to the point where the Arena Trail strikes off northward into hill country. In this region nefarious highwaymen from the dregs of Hadren society sometimes lie in wait to ambush unwary travellers, so go well-armed on this road and travel in company when you can. The highwaymen can be fell and evil opponents in combat, and you should be ready for a fight.
The Road then turns and runs generally westward through rolling hill country, very barren, for about 850 lengths, before bending southward for a short time to pass west through a lovely green valley. After another 300 lengths or so in this pleasant region, the road turns almost due north (but a little west of north) and climbs up with many twists and turns through the great range of hills that forms the eastern boundary of the Vale of Wickenburg. At the crest of the ridge, beneath a great spreading oak tree, the traveller will suddenly discover a breath-taking panorama westward down into the Vale of Wickenburg including the strange Wizard's Tower rising up from the vale near at hand and at a little further distance down in the vale, the town of Wickenburg itself with its famous church, the seat of the region's spiritual leader, Bishop Waleran.
