Almost midway along the road from Wickenburg to Fairfield, at the south end of the north-south reach that runs past the graveyard haunted by animated skeletons, a Trail runs uphill to the west away from the Road. It actually looks like an unfinished extension of the Road running west from Wickenburg, as it continues straight when coming from that direction, rather than turning north toward the graveyard.
After about 250 lengths of a moderate uphill climb, the traveller will reach the old abandoned Blackrocks Lodge perched on the south flank of Gem Mountain and its foothills with a panoramic view to the south toward the coast (though the coast is not visible). South of the lodge one can still discern an old and overgrown wheat field that at one time must have yielded grain for good bread (and perhaps a well-brewed ale) for the lodge. Immediately to the southwest of the building itself stand the arresting and formidable Blackrocks themselves, very impressive black obsidian outcrops that have been chipped away on the sides since ancient times to produce keen-edged stone tools and weapons such as arrowheads. Goblins in the vicinity seem to have retained the skill, as many of them seem to shoot arrows at unwary travellers.
