You must keep a sharp eye out to the north when you are about 400 lengths along the Hadren Wickenburg Road beyond Hadren's West Gate, or you will miss the faint Trail that strikes off up into the hills to the northwest. It wends its way back and forth but generally northward for almost 400 lengths more, before turning sharply to the west for a little over 100 lengths. By this time the Arena itself will be visible northwest of the road at the top of a long hill, and you may turn north over ground too ancient and stony to bear any mark of a track to reach the building.
Standing hollow and empty with its large south-facing open-air fighting-field and its blood-stained indoor combat pit with a viewing balcony around the walls, the Arena is a reminder of fiercer times long past when Hadren was even larger than it is today, and far more war-like. In those days teams of gladiators travelled out from the city, some local and some visiting celebrities from far away, to do combat with each other or with wilderness beasts in this massive structure.
Be careful when exploring this ruin, as a small band of orcs appear to use the place for shelter, rendering it quite disgustingly filthy and foul-smelling in its interior corridors, and you are quite likely to encounter at least one of these nasty creatures either outside the Arena or even inside its galleries!
To the north of the Arena, from the crest of Thistle Mountain (see my map), the traveller will be able to see Untharin Abbey to the north as well as the Arena to the south--they are actually only a short hike apart.
