| Lady Delora *bows * |
| Lilac: | It is a pleasure to see you again, M'lady. |
| Lady Delora: | {loudly} tis quiet this morning..(smile) |
| Gordon bows to Lady Delora. |
| Lilac smiles |
| Lilac: | I'm sure that will change. |
| Lady Delora: | Tis been a while Lilac..I know... |
| Lilac: | Yes, we don't see you nearly often enough, although I haven't been around too much lately myself. |
| Lady Delora: | I hear there will be some intersting things going on later. |
| Lady Delora: | ah yes...my life is busy at times and prevents me from coming out of the castle. |
| Lilac nods |
| Lady Delora: | have ye all had some breakfast...maybe ye would like to come join me and Lord Darby at the Castle. |
| Lady Delora: | I think he is waiting for us there. |
| Lilac: | All these menfolk are rather quiet...perhaps they are deep in thought. |
| Gordon: | Bit early in't morning fer us |
| Lilac wiggles her toes. |
| Lady Delora smiles |
| Gordon: | Waitin' fer the bar to open |
| Lilac: | Breakfast would be lovely. |
| Lilac eyes Gordon with a frown. |
| Lady Delora: | well ye are most welcome to join me and Lord Darby for some bread and maybe some ale...but tis early. |
| Lady Delora: | Greetings Lord Darby |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Greetings Lord Darby. |
| Lord Darby: | {broadcasts} G'day Ladies and Gentlemen |
| Lilac curtseys |
| Gordon: | Mornin' m'Lord |
| Lady Delora: | We are here to join ye for some breakfast. |
| Lord Darby: | {broadcasts} Please do join us for some breakfast. |
| Rhyslin: | Good morning m'Lord |
| Lady Delora: | um..the men were wondering if there might be some Ale with the bread today? |
| Lord Darby: | {broadcasts} Oh certainly. Ale!! |
| Lady Delora looks at Gordon. |
| Lord Darby: | {broadcasts} Let's have some ale for my guests! |
| Lady Delora: | greetings katie |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Oh, good morning Katie. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} How are you finding your stay at the castle? |
| Rhyslin: | Good morning Katie |
| Katie: | Hello everyone |
| Katie curtseys to Lord Darby and Lady Delora. |
| Lady Delora looks at the tapastries on the wall...noticeing some for the first time. |
| Lilac: | I was just admiring the tapestries, myself, Lady Delora. |
| Lady Delora: | Katie, are we are going to have some breakfast. I do hope your hungry. |
| Katie: | Mmm are there sausages? |
| Katie looks hungry. |
| Lady Delora: | I think I can smell them cooking.... |
| Katie: | Yummy! |
| Lady Delora: | let me go and check on the food and drinks...I shall return shortly. |
| Lilac sniffs the air appreciatively. |
| Lilac: | The tapestries are lovely, Lord Darby. |
| Lady Delora: | the food shall be here shortly. |
| Gordon: | Yeah, s'pecially that one over the table. Bet Master Cedric'd pay handsomely fer it an all {laugh} |
| Gordon remembers the august company he is in and looks at his boots. |
| Lilac elbows Gordon in the ribs. |
| Rhyslin stifles a grin |
| Katie giggles. |
| Katie: | Dwarves are funny. |
| Lilac: | Hmm, I think this town needs a potter. Some new vases for the roses might be nice. |
| Lilac smiles |
| Rhyslin: | amazing, how do you get the roses to sit in the air like that? :-); |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} Thank you Lilac, I'm looking to purchase some new ones if you know of any artists. |
| Lady Delora: | yes Lilac..those clear ones might be tricky to add water to. (smiles) |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} We polish the crystal vases very well so you can barely see them. |
| the help arrives with the drinks and food and places them on the table for all to begin eating. |
| Lady Delora: | very good Lord Darby...your cook is wonderful! |
| Lilac: | It all looks delicious! |
| Lilac: | I hardly know where to begin. |
| Rhyslin breathes in the wonderful aromas |
| Lilac helps herself to some of everything, until her plate is piled high. |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} Well Rhyslin has been promoted from cook to medic so I had to hire a new cook. |
| Lady Delora passes the pitcure of Ale to Gordon. |
| Lilac nods. |
| Lilac swallows quickly. |
| Rhyslin: | Well, I do say you must have found someone good |
| Lilac: | Yes, I heard he was now the medic. |
| Lady Delora: | congrats Rhyslin..that is good news for all. |
| Gordon: | Did Joan make these sausages? |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} Have you made any progress with investigating the haunting of the storeroom? |
| Lilac takes a few more sausages and hands the plate to Katie. |
| Katie: | Oh yes! Tell us about the ghost! |
| Rhyslin: | Thank you, but hopefully my services will be seldom needed |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} Indeed, Joan does supply some of the produce. |
| Katie quickly grabs two sausages. |
| Gordon: | Thought I recognised her fine handiwork! |
| Lady Delora tries not to swallow wrong thinking about Ghost while eating. |
| Rhyslin: | Well, I've gotten some leads to follow |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} Oh don't worry m'lady, the hauntings seem to be fairly settled and only in the dead of night. |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} Excellent Rhyslin. |
| Rhyslin: | I plan to be off to Wickenburg later to talk to some people |
| Lady Delora breaths a little easier. |
| Rhyslin: | Katie, could I talk to you later about her? |
| Lilac: | I will be happy to come with you, Rhyslin. |
| Rhyslin: | Always welcome to have company |
| Katie: | Yes, Rhyslin. |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} Zon has done a fine job of patrolling the roads... that was a fine idea to put the goblin heads on pikes by the road! |
| Lady Delora: | people? What people Rhyslin? |
| Lilac shudders |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} Oh, sorry ladies we shouldn't discuss such things at breakfast. |
| Delora makes a face... |
| Lilac looks longingly at the last sausage. |
| Rhyslin: | There's Elric, the former owner of the inn there |
| Gordon boldly passes the sausage plate to Lilac. |
| Lilac: | Oh, thank you Gordon. |
| Lady Delora: | Go ahead Lilac...the sausage is yours. |
| Lilac smiles at Gordon. |
| Lilac blushes a bit. |
| Rhyslin: | And then theres Agnathia, who might know something of ghosts |
| Lilac: | Well, they are quite delicious. |
| Rhyslin: | Yes, very |
| Lilac: | Do you know where to find Agnathia, Rhyslin? |
| Lady Delora: | ah..Agnathia. She will be able to help. |
| Rhyslin: | The stories we've heard so far about the person who is supposedly the ghost seems to say that she was not an evil person |
| Rhyslin: | Only approximately, in Wickenburg somewhere |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} I'm afraid I've not heard of this Agnathia. |
| Rhyslin: | She knows something of magic, from what Brother Leyton told me |
| Rhyslin: | I would like to find a way to put Lenore's soul to rest, so I'm hoping to find a way to talk to her, and I've been told Agnathia might be able to teach me how |
| Lilac: | Ah, good, you spoke with Brother Leyton. |
| Lady Delora: | I've heard she is a ... |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} Well, as long as you get these ghosts out of the castle I'll be pleased! |
| Delora is not sure she should say the word....witch |
| Rhyslin nods slightly at Delora |
| Lady Delora: | ah...well..I thought I heard rumor to that. |
| Lady Delora: | I think I will be staying here then. Not sure I want to meet a witch. |
| Rhyslin: | However, m'Lord, to talk with Lenore might involve a ritual called a seance, and if what little I know of it, I might need to do that here in the castle |
| Rhyslin: | Presumably in the storeroom, not here in the main building |
| Delora agrees with that... |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} A seance here in the castle! |
| Katie: | What's a seancé? |
| Lilac looks at Lord Darby. |
| Lady Delora: | not sure if you should be there either Katie. It could get really scary. |
| Rhyslin: | It is a way to talk to spirits, Katie |
| Katie: | Oh. But I spoke to her! |
| Lilac: | I believe Katie has spoken with her already, Lady Delora. |
| Katie: | And I didn't do anything funny or clever. |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} Rhyslin, make sure you confine such activities to ONLY the storeroom. I'll not be having any such activities spooking the staff. |
| Rhyslin: | Yes, and I'd like to talk to you about that later, Katie |
| Lady Delora: | Oh my! |
| Rhyslin: | Yes m'Lord |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} Also I'd like to announce that I'm offering a bonus for quality cartography work. |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} I desire to have the nearby lands mapped more accurately. |
| Rhyslin: | My hope is that putting Lenore to rest by holding a seance would be far less disruptive than an exorcism |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} Very well Rhyslin, you have my permission to continue investigating the possibility of conducting a seance. |
| Lilac: | I will help with the Seance, Rhyslin. |
| Rhyslin: | I will talk with you first before I actually do it, since I don't know the details yet |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} All accurate reports of terrain features will be rewarded. |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} Good Lilac, you've shown yourself to be sensible and I'll be more comfortable if you are involved in any seance. |
| Delora agrees with Lord Darby. |
| Lilac blushes |
| Lilac: | Thank you, m'lord. |
| Lilac: | It was an excellent meal. |
| Lady Delora: | agreed and now I am full. |
| Lilac pushes her plate away |
| Lilac sighs contendedly. |
| Rhyslin: | Yes, delicious |
| Lady Delora: | I hope ye all have had enough food and drink..or shall I call for more? |
| Lilac: | Perhaps now that breakfast is over, you might be able to talk with Katie. |
| Rhyslin: | No thank you, I am quite full |
| Delora calls for the help to remove the dishes and clear the table. |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} Thank you for joining me for breakfast, I wish you safe passage on your journeys. |
| Lady Delora: | have a safe day everyone and thank you for joining us. |
| Lilac: | Thank you for the lovely breakfast. |
| Rhyslin: | Yes, thank you, it was delicious |
| Lady Delora: | I shall retire to my rooms as there is a new tapestry on my loom I am wanting to work on. |
| Katie: | It was yummy! Thank you! |
| Gordon burps loudly. |
| Gordon: | {broadcasts} Pardon. |
| Lord Darby: | {loudly} Well good luck my friends... I have administration matters to attend to. |
| Lady Delora: | and ye all can get on with your day as well. (smile) but don't feel ye have to leave i f your not ready. |
| Gordon blushes profusely. |
| Rhyslin: | Good day, m'Lord |
| Rhyslin: | Katie, can I talk to you now? |
| Gordon: | The forge fer me! Good luck all! |
| Katie: | Yes, Rhyslin. |
| Delora waves |
| Rhyslin: | Perhaps we can move to the outer building, and not discuss this here in the hall |
| Katie: | {loudly} But She might hear us there! |
| Katie: | let's go to the rose garden! |
| Rhyslin: | OK |
| Katie climbs over the wall, snagging her dress. |
| Katie reaches down and smells a rose. |
| Rhyslin: | Your roses are coming up nicely |
| Katie: | She won't hear us here, I bet! |
| Lilac: | Yes, but still no success creating an orange one. |
| Rhyslin: | So yoiu've spoken with Lenore, Katie? |
| Katie: | Yes, when she was really noisy. |
| Lilac wiggles her toes. |
| Katie: | I told her off for keeping everyone awake and she came into my room. She was only really faint, not like when I saw her in the storeroom. |
| Rhyslin smiles |
| Lilac: | Hello, Brother Leyton. |
| Leyton: | Hello my friends. |
| Rhyslin: | So ghosts don't scare you much, do they? |
| Rhyslin: | Good day, Brother |
| Katie: | She's not that scary. |
| Katie: | Especially now we know who she is! |
| Katie: | She told me she won't harm me as I'm her Freddy's cousin. That's what she said! |
| Rhyslin: | Did she talk about herself much? |
| Katie: | She looks a bit scary, though. One side of her face is all...horrible. |
| Rhyslin: | Really? |
| Katie runs her hand down her left cheek |
| Rhyslin: | Yes, the stories suggest she came to an ill end |
| Katie: | I suppose she wouldn't be a ghost otherwise. |
| Katie: | That's what Sadie said. |
| Katie: | Sadie said bad things happened to her and her lover, Freddy, and that's why she's haunting the castle. |
| Rhyslin: | Did she talk about what happened, or where? |
| Lilac: | Did Lenore say anything else to you, Katie? |
| Katie: | Katarina and I found records in the castle from YEARS ago about Lady Lenore. They said she eloped with Viscount Frederick of Valorf and was never seen again. |
| Katie: | She's always calling for her Freddy. |
| Katie: | When I asked her about him she said I looked like him and I must be his cousin. |
| Katie: | Then we found the records and I am related to Viscount Frederick, if that's who Freddy is. |
| Katie: | But it was a really long time ago! |
| Rhyslin: | Yes, I do believe it was |
| Lilac: | I wonder how she ended up in Wickenburg. |
| Katie: | I don't know. I didn't ask her that and now she won't speak to me. She's gotten quieter ever since you took the leather off the barrels. |
| Lilac: | Was there anything else she said to you, when she was speaking with you? |
| Katie: | Katarina did say that young couples who wanted to run away to get married used to go to a village between Wickenburg and Hadren. |
| Katie: | She kept talking about men. Men who attacked her and Freddy. I think they were on a road, because she said they were on horses. |
| Lilac: | That would fit in with her being, er, attached to the leathe saddle. |
| Katie: | That's all I can remember, I'm afraid. |
| Rhyslin: | Thank you Katie, every little bit of information helps |
| Lilac: | Well, I guess we will have to see if we can get her to speak with us, so we can help her, and Freddy. |
| Rhyslin: | Could you show me those records you and Katarina found? |
| Katie: | I have to go meet the Pastor in church now. She's teaching me my letters now Myrrhine's left. |
| Rhyslin: | That's OK, I can look at the records later, if need be |
| Katie: | I'll ask Katarina. |
| Katie grins. |
| Katie: | Bye! |
| Rhyslin: | Bye Katie |
| Rhyslin: | Well, it will take a while to get to Wickenburg, are you able to go now? |
| Rhyslin: | Oh and Brother Leyton, do you have directions to Agnathia's? |
| Leyton: | I'm sure we can find her. |
| Rhyslin: | Oh good, will you be coming too? |
| Leyton: | I'll travel as far as Valorde with you. |
| Rhyslin: | Ah, good--it looks like a fine day to travel |
| Rhyslin: | Shall we then? |
| Leyton: | A nice day indeed. |

| Barnaby: | That doesn't look good! |
| Lilac shakes her head sadly |
| Lilac: | {loudly} He got away. |
| Zon: | {loudly} Damn |
| Lilac: | {loudly} I don't think I've ever seen one move quite so fast! |
| Zon: | {loudly} Sorry about that, I was busy with a goblin |
| Autumne: | {shouts} I've never seen an orc run so fast! |
| Lilac: | {loudly} What can I do to help you, Sir? |
| Wounded Merchant: | {gasp!} help me up |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Here, let me tend to your wounds |
| Lilac awkwardly tries to help the merchant up. |
| The Merchant is bleeding badly from several wounds. |
| Wounded Merchant: | We were attacked. |
| Barnaby: | Urgh, blood.. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Who? |
| Barnaby: | I feel faint |
| Rhyslin starts bandaging |
| Lilac: | Barnaby, sit down, before you fall down. |
| Gulvurz missed Barnaby |
| The Merchant gestures toward the road. There are bodies of orcs and men everywhere and the remains of a wagon. The horses are gone, as is most of the cargo. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} breath slowly and deeply, Barnaby |
| is healthy |
| Gulvurz missed Barnaby |
| Barnaby slumps to the ground |
| Wounded Merchant: | The other orcs fled, goblins too! That beast remained to finish me off. |
| Wounded Merchant: | He'd have done it too if it weren't for you! |
| is healthy |
| Autumne hit Gulvurz for 22 |

| Lilac hit Gulvurz for 17 |
| Gulvurz has been slain! |
| Zon hit Gulvurz for 26 |
| Barnaby sits down heavily |
| Wounded Merchant: | It's almost as if they know when to strike. I've lost three out of the last five trains from Valorde. |
| The Merchant sighs. |
| Autumne: | {loudly} We've slain many of them, and set up regular patrols. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Yes, the roads have been very dangerous of late |
| Wounded Merchant: | Aye, and more dangerous recently. |
| Lilac: | Any idea why? |
| The Merchant mutters. |
| Wounded Merchant: | ...as if they know just when to strike... |
| Zon: | {loudly} Ah, exhilarating, isn't it Barnaby? |
| Autumne: | {loudly} How do you mean, merchant? |
| Lilac: | Zon, don't pick on him. |
| Barnaby: | Humph! |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Hmm, I can't read this at all |
| Wounded Merchant: | They never come on days the roads are patrolled. The taverns are full of it between here and Fairfield. |
| Lilac: | What is it, Rhyslin? |
| Wounded Merchant: | These past three weeks it's gotten worse and worse. |
| Rhyslin finishes bandaging the merchant |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Here take a look |
| Rhyslin has given an item to Lilac |
| Although the scroll is clearly written in orcish, Rhyslin's skill is sufficient to only make out a few words. "Moon" is mentioned several times. Once, there is the mark for "Zon" as it would be rendered in orcish. Finally, the letter ends with the mark for "M" |
| Barnaby: | Zon? |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Hmm, Zon, you seem to be mentioned |
| Autumne laughs. |
| Lilac has given an item to Rhyslin |
| Rhyslin wonders what the current phase of the moon is |
| Autumne: | {loudly} I'm surprised there are orcs still alive to know your name, Zon! |
| Lilac returns the item. |
| Autumne: | {loudly} You must be slacking. |
| Lilac: | I can't read any of it, |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Does that "M" look familiar, Lilac? |
| Lilac: | I was just thinking that. |
| With the phases of the moon in mind, you are able to see that the text does indeed seem to suggest a timetable of some kind. |
| Lilac shuffles her feet. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Looks like I'll have to improve my orcish |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Do you feel well enough to return to town, sir? |
| The Merchant grunts. |
| Wounded Merchant: | I can walk, aye. |
| The Merchant looks at the ruins of his wagon train. |
| Wounded Merchant: | But my stock is ruined, and my guards slain. |
| Wounded Merchant: | And all within sight of Wickenburg! |
| Barnaby: | Thats good, I thought you'd die for sure |
| The Merchant looks at Barnaby. |
| Wounded Merchant: | Aye. |
| Wounded Merchant: | This is rough work for a civilized man. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} I wonder what the town guards are doing. Seems like they would see trouble this close to town. |
| Wounded Merchant: | Drunk, most likely. |
| Wounded Merchant: | That's what I pay my taxes for. |
| Wounded Merchant: | For guards to get drunk at my expense! |
| Wounded Merchant: | Well, I shall bring this matter up at the next Council! |
| Barnaby: | What were you carrying? Did the orcs steal any of it? |
| Wounded Merchant: | Are ye heading to Wickenburg? |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Yes, we are on our way to Wickenburg. |
| The Merchant points at the ruined wagon, much of which has been plundered. |
| Wounded Merchant: | Aye. |
| Wounded Merchant: | Not much here to salvage. |
| Wounded Merchant: | These orcs know their business! |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Are they hitting all shipments, or just certain items? |
| Wounded Merchant: | {loudly} They hit indiscriminately. |
| Wounded Merchant: | {loudly} We thought they'd been brought under control. |
| Wounded Merchant: | {loudly} With the new joint militia out of Valorde and Fairfield. |
| Wounded Merchant: | {loudly} But lately they've got bold again. |
| Wounded Merchant: | {loudly} If this keeps up, there'll be not trade at all by winter. |
| The Merchant grunts. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Let's get back to town |
| Lilac: | {loudly} There were certainly many on the roads today! |
| Wounded Merchant: | {loudly} I'll send out men to recover the bodies of my men. |
| Wounded Merchant: | {loudly} Those lazy militia. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Are we following the road? |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} I think it will be easier on the merchant |
| Lilac mutters to herself |
| Barnaby waves |
| The mysterious wizard does not deign to wave back. |
| Barnaby: | {shouts} Hello, up there. You'd better watch out for goblins and orcs hereabouts |
| Barnaby: | {shouts} You might be in danger |
| Zon: | {loudly} Sir, you should get to town |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Come on, Barnaby, we need to get the merchant back to town. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Hello, Ellen |
| Ellen: | Welcome. How may I help you? |
| Lilac: | {loudly} An ale please |
| Ellen: | I'll put it on your tab. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Where's Daneni? |
| Ellen: | Daneni is usally at her inn in the center of the city. |
| Zon: | {loudly} I'll have an ale please |
| Ellen: | I'll put it on your tab. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Where is Elric? |
| Ellen: | Elric is usually around the Cathedral. |
| Barnaby: | Inn? someone siad inn!..and Ale |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Thank you. |
| Ellen: | You're welcome. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Hello ellen |
| Ellen: | Welcome. How may I help you? |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Rhys, Ellen says Elric is usually around the cathedral. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Do you know where Agnathia is? |
| Ellen: | I don't know. Could you tell me where Agnathia is? |
| Barnaby: | Hello, Ellen, is it? |
| Ellen: | Welcome. How may I help you? |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} never mind |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Maybe Elric knows where to find Agnathia? |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Or, Daneni, if we could find her. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Hmm, no one else seems about |
| The track is too old, you cannot follow it. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Well, I suppose we could just look about. |
| Be patient, look for the trail. |
| Zon: | {loudly} I'm going to stand guard here, you go ahead |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Barbaby, you coming? |
| Ellen: | Welcome. How may I help you? |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Don't drink too much there, Zon, |
| Lilac grins |
| Zon laughs |
| Barnaby: | Any chance of a free ale please, for a hero just back from a rescue |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Where do you want to start, Rhyslin? |
| Zon: | {loudly} I need to keep my head, with all these orcs and goblins about |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} I think Leyton mentioned the outskirts of town |
| Lilac: | {loudly} I don't think there is much chance of free ale, Barnaby. |
| Barnaby: | Perhaps we shoud shtay here and waitsh for the peoplesh to come by? |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Well, we might run into them in town somewhere |
| Lilac eyes Barnaby |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} If you like, you can stay here and if Daneni comes by, you can let her know we are looking for her |
| Daneni yawns and stretches. |
| Daneni: | {loudly} Morning Ellen. |
| Ellen: | Good morning. |
| Lilac sighs |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} I think I hear her |
| Lilac nods |
| Daneni: | {loudly} Oh hello. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Ah, Daneni |
| Barnaby: | Good day, mam'am |
| Daneni looks rather the worse for wear. |
| Daneni: | {loudly} Morning. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Hello, Daneni. |
| Barnaby: | Good night, as well? |
| Daneni looks outside at the afternoon sun. |
| Barnaby bows |
| Daneni: | {loudly} Ah. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} problems, Daneni? |
| Daneni: | We had quite a party last night. |
| Daneni: | I drank rather too much of my own produce than is good for me. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} That must account for the lack of the Town Guard |
| Daneni: | It's also very bad for business to consume your own product. |
| Daneni: | Thirsty? |
| Lilac: | {loudly} We just rescued a Merchant on the outskirts of town. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} We've had one already |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} His whole contingent was slaughtered |
| Lilac nods in agreement. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} We were almost too late to save him. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} He thinks they know just when to attack. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Luckily, I was able to patch him up |
| Daneni: | Ah, good. |
| Daneni: | The inn has been full of talk of attacks on merchant trains this past week or two! |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Have the roads really been that bad of late? |
| Lilac: | {loudly} I suppose we will have to increase the patrols |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Well, we are here to talk to Elric, and a woman named Agnathia. Do you know where we could find either? |
| Daneni: | {loudly} Elric is cellarer to the Bishop now. He's a busy man, though. |
| Daneni: | {loudly} I can send a boy to fetch him. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Thanks |
| Daneni: | {loudly} You've come to see Agnathia? |
| Daneni looks curious. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Yes |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} I've been told she can help me |
| Daneni: | {loudly} I've heard she's very erm skilled. |
| Daneni wonders what's wrong with Rhyslin. |
| Barnaby looks intrigued |
| Lilac: | {loudly} So, do you know where we can find her? |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} You're talking about magic and spirits, right? |
| Daneni: | {loudly} Yes, she's in the street behind the inn. |
| Barnaby looks disappointed |
| Daneni laughs at Barnaby. |
| Daneni consoles Barnaby with a fine mug of Mitre Ale. |
| Daneni has given an item to Barnaby |
| Barnaby looks consoled |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} There's a whole row of houses, which one? |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Shall we wait for Elric, or try to find Agnathia? |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} Ahhhhhhhh, {hic} |
| Daneni: | {loudly} I'm not sure, I'm afraid. Never had dealings with ehr. |
| Lilac looks at Barnaby and sighs. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Well, since we sent out for Elric, we should wait a minute to see if he is coming |
| Lilac: | {loudly} I think your finer brews might be wasted on Barnaby. |
| Daneni: | Yep. My lad should be back soon. |
| Daneni: | If he doesn't get sidetracked. |
| Daneni: | He's a lazy buggerrt. |
| Daneni: | ...which is much worse than a lazy @#$%, let me tell you! |
| Lilac chuckles |
| Daneni: | Sure you won't have some ale? |
| Daneni waves a jug enticingly. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Sure, while I wait |
| Daneni is picking up Bad Words working in a tavern. |
| Daneni has given an item to Rhyslin |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} I'se forever blowing bubblesh. Pretty bubblesh in the air {hic} |
| Daneni has given an item to Lilac |
| Daneni has given an item to Barnaby |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Thank you, Daneni. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Thank you |
| Daneni: | Zon? |
| Daneni has given an item to Zon |
| Barnaby: | {loudly} Cheersh |
| Zon: | {loudly} Not one to refuse an ale! |
| Daneni: | I didn't think a dwarf'd need to be asked twice! |
| Zon: | {loudly} Wouldn |
| Lilac laughs at Zon. |
| Zon: | {loudly} Wouldn't be polite |
| Zon winks |
| Lilac: | {loudly} I noticed you didn't take long to rush in, Zon. |
| Daneni's lad returns and passes her a note. She clips him round the earhole. |
| Daneni: | Told you his was lazy. |
| Ellen: | If you need to talk to me, give me a shout. |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} Nos a tall. Not politesh |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Hmm, Barnaby, I think you need to limit your ale.... |
| Daneni giggles at Barnaby. |
| Lilac rolls her eyes. |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} Dwarvesh is verrrry politess |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Perhaps you should sit down |
| Daneni reads the note. |
| Daneni: | Hmm. |
| Daneni has given an item to Rhyslin |
| Lilac: | {loudly} News of Elric? |
| Daneni: | Yes. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Yeah, looks like he is too busy with work |
| Daneni: | He seldom comes down here now. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Oh well, let's go look for Agnathia before it gets too late |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Well, perhaps Agnatia can proide us with enough information. |
| Daneni: | There's been a spate of celebrations recently marking famous victories and the like. |
| Daneni: | The Bishop seems to think the people need cheering up! |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} With all the attacks, it's no wonder |
| Daneni: | That's kept Elric busy. Me too! Trade has been brisk with so many visitors to the city. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Well, thank you for the ale, Daneni. |
| Zon: | {loudly} I hope the attacks won't disrupt your ale deliveries to Fairfield! |
| Daneni: | Hmm, it does seem to be a particular problem for the Valorde/Fairfield road. |
| Daneni: | The Hadren road is still as secure as ever. |
| Zon: | {loudly} Let me know when, and I'll personally escort them |
| Daneni: | Of course, that falls under the responsibility of Wickenburg's militia. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Um, Zon, would any of it get through? |
| Lilac grins |
| Daneni: | You're kind, Zon. I do need to arrange a fresh delivery soon. |
| Zon: | {loudly} Can't guarantee it |
| Zon winks |
| Daneni: | Some of the merchants have been talking about banding together. It would make sense. The cost of a caraven guard for the Fairfield road has tripled in the past month! |
| Daneni: | Danger money, they say. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} You wouldn't want to leave Gordon high and dry now, would you Zon? |
| Zon: | {loudly} He can escort his own shipment! |
| Daneni: | Trouble is, as the wages increase, down goes the quality of the guards. Farmers sons and useless with a sword in their hand most of 'em. |
| Lilac: | {loudly} How come you haven't sharpened your sword, Daneni? |
| Daneni: | I'll likely escort my ale myself next time! |
| Zon: | {loudly} I remember Macca and his pitchfork! |
| Daneni grimaces. |
| Daneni: | How is Fairfield? |
| Daneni: | I see you have new settlers. |
| Daneni nods at Barnaby. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Same as ever, except for the ghosts, faeries, orcs, goblins, fayre..... |
| Daneni looks dizzy. |
| Lilac laughs at Rhyslin |
| Daneni: | You've been busy! |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Yeah, and I'm now a medic at the castle instead of the cook |
| Lilac: | {loudly} don't forget trying to work with the Valorde militia! |
| Zon: | {loudly} Except for Autumne, what militia |
| Zon looks disgusted |
| Daneni laughs. |
| Daneni: | We've heard the stories about Valorde's finest. |
| Zon: | {loudly} Bunch of slackers |
| Zon: | {loudly} All they do is drink |
| Lilac: | {loudly} But they have such pretty boots! |
| Lilac laughs |
| Daneni: | Pretty bows and arrows too |
| Zon: | {loudly} which would be OK, if they interspersed it with fighting |
| Zon laughs |
| Daneni: | And Captain Charlemagne's moustache is so verry twiddly. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Well, Lilac and I need to find Agnathia before night |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Alright, let's go then. |
| Daneni: | I expect a nighttime visit will be more discreet! |
| Daneni: | Good luck! |
| Lilac: | {loudly} Thanks again, Daneni. |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} Barnaby, coming, or do you need to rest? |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} I Coming? where? |
| Barnaby: | Yes, I come along |
| Rhyslin: | {loudly} We're going to look for Agnathia |
| Barnaby: | Always nice to make ne friend |
| Lilac looks at all the houses and cringes |
| Autumne: | Here's the place. |
| Bubble... Bubble... |
| Autumne looks nervously at the doorway. |
| Agnathia: | Soft Singing.... "Oh there once was a sailor, his name was Meggie, his ship rolled and pitched with me on his knee..." |
| Lilac: | {shouts} Rhys, over here |
| Barnaby: | What s that funny sound? |
| Rhyslin: | Here? |
| Autumne: | Singing I think! |
| Bubble... bubble... |
| Rhyslin knocks |
| Autumne: | She's up then! |
| Lilac nods, I think so. |
| Agnathia: | Hello sire. |
| Rhyslin: | Good evening, would you be Agnathia? |
| A caudron bubbles in the corner. |
| Lilac tries to peek around Rhyslin. |
| Autumne: | What's that strange smell? |
| Agnathia: | Perhaps, who'd be asking? |
| Agnathia: | {loudly} Come in come in... don't be shy |
| Rhyslin: | My name is Rhyslin of Fairfield, Brother Leyton suggested I talk with you |
| Rhyslin has given an item to Agnathia |
| Agnathia: | Mmmmm... Brother Leyton eh? |
| Barnaby: | Hello, ma'am |
| Lilac comes in and looks around. |
| Rhyslin hands Agnathia a letter |
| Agnathia reads the note. |
| Rhyslin: | These are my friends, Lilac and Barnaby and Autumne |
| Lilac: | Hello. |
| Barnaby bows |
| Rhyslin: | Ah, Autumne is still outside |
| Agnathia: | Good to meet you Rhyslin, Lilac, Barnaby and Autumne. |
| Autumne: | Here I am |
| Agnathia: | What business brings you from Fairfield to Wickenburg? |
| Rhyslin: | Would you be willing to talk with me? I am looking for knowledge about ghosts, and how I might be able to talk with one |
| Autumne shudders. |
| Agnathia: | For a price I'd speak with anyone but his royal highness. |
| Lilac raises an eyebrow. |
| Agnathia: | Wishing to talk to ghosts eh? |
| Agnathia: | Not many wish to speak with ghosts! |
| Rhyslin: | Aye, and what would be your price? |
| Agnathia: | Well... prices are always variable and negotiable. |
| Rhyslin: | We wish to put one to rest, if it is possible |
| Agnathia: | Depends on the knowledge and services you desire. |
| Agnathia: | Well well... ambitious adventurers are we? |
| Rhyslin: | I would like to learn how to hold a seance, or if that is not the proper way, whatever you might suggest |
| Lilac: | We think the ghost is harmless, but we don't know enough of her story to help her on her way. |
| Agnathia: | Well, it appears you aren't a complete idiot... yes... a seance (properly conducted) could get a ghost to speak with you. |
| Agnathia: | A harmless ghost? |
| Rhyslin: | Yes, she hasn't caused any harm, at least yet |
| Agnathia: | Well, my little friend... it's tough to tell if a ghost is truly harmless or not. |
| Lilac: | Well, at present, a bit of a nuisance, but so far she has not done anything but frighten a good many. |
| Agnathia: | Well... they can be unpredictable. |
| Lilac nods |
| Rhyslin: | And if we can't free her spirit, our Lord will get an exorcist to do it |
| Agnathia: | You've probably not upset or disturbed her. |
| Lilac shudders |
| Agnathia: | Oh no! Not an exorcist! Quacks! One and all! |
| Lilac: | We know a little of her, and what it appears that what she says goes along with what was known of her. |
| Rhyslin: | In fact, it is likely to be the local Witchfinder |
| Lilac wiggles her toes agitatedly. |
| Agnathia: | Steer clear of Mr. Witchfinder... he'll find you a witch allright! |
| Lilac nods |
| Rhyslin: | Aye |
| Agnathia: | And mind you if you cross him you'll be the witch! |
| Lilac nods more vigorously. |
| Rhyslin: | So now you see why we would like to resolve the situation ourselves |
| Agnathia: | So how much do you know about conducting a seance? |
| Autumne: | {whispers to Barnaby} the Witchfinder came to Fairfield to try a little girl and ended up finding your predecessor guilty of witchcraft! |
| Rhyslin: | Unfortunately, only what is said around campfires |
| Rhyslin: | But I am a quick learner |
| Agnathia: | {laugh} And do you hang around many campfires telling ghost stories? |
| Lilac: | We want to be sure to do things properly, so that no harm comes to anyone. |
| Rhyslin: | Not since I was a lad |
| Rhyslin: | Agreed |
| Agnathia: | Ok, well Leyton's introduction got you in here and an introduction... but this is my business... perhaps you'd like to make a bit of a contribution? |
| Agnathia: | Perhaps I could read your tarot cards for you? |
| Rhyslin: | Certainly, would 30 coppers be appropriate? |
| Autumne thought the expression was "cross my palm with silver" and not copper :) |
| Agnathia: | Alright Rhyslin... have a seat... for 30 copper I'll read the cards for you. |
| Autumne: | {whispers to Barnaby} cheap witch! |
| Agnathia pulls a deck of cards from under her cloak. |
| Barnaby sniggers |
| Autumne stifles a laugh with difficulty. |
| Lilac casts a frown at Autumne and Barnaby. |
| Autumne Autumne looks suitably sheepish. |
| Shuffle... |
| Agnathia: | Let's see... |
| Drawing a card and placing it before her Agnathia hums.... |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} There was an old crone at the fayre used to read the Tarot |
| Agnathia: | The Moon. |
| Lilac emits a small sound. |
| Autumne: | {quietly says} I thought that was Melody in a horse hair wig? |
| Autumne: | {quietly says} Ah,no, she read my palm. |
| Rhyslin glances back |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} I know cos I used to be the one to hide under the table and bang on it when she kicked me. |
| Autumne: | {quietly says} She told me I'd marry a rich husband and have lots of children! |
| Agnathia: | In the past Rhyslin, you've looked up to the moon light while foraging for scraps with the stray dogs... |
| Autumne laughs. |
| Autumne: | {quietly says} Sorry. |
| Lilac looks puzzled. |
| Agnathia: | {loudly} HUSH!!! |
| Autumne looks fearfully at Agnathia. |
| Agnathia: | If you wish a charlotan go seek out the fayre.... if your serious be quite! |
| a second card is drawn. |
| Agnathia: | Queen of Pentacles reversed. |
| Agnathia: | A lady has come into your life... a grand lady... however not necessarily has this gone well for you. |
| Agnathia: | Perhaps a romantic interest not returned? |
| Rhyslin: | hmm |
| a third card is pulled.... |
| Agnathia: | The Future: "Temperance" |
| Agnathia: | Patience and care in the future would be wise. |
| Agnathia: | Well, my friend, I hope that gives you valuable guidance. Did you wish to speak about seances now? |
| Rhyslin: | always |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} What about the lady..? |
| Agnathia: | Or did one of your friends wish to have their cards read too? |
| Lilac shushes Barnaby. |
| Rhyslin: | Anyone? |
| Autumne: | Go on, Barnaby. |
| Autumne: | There's nobody under the table this time. |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} Aw no. Its just make believe |
| Lilac: | I believe I will wait until another time. |
| Agnathia: | Very well. |
| Autumne: | Let's see then! |
| Autumne: | I'll pay for Barnab |
| Autumne shoves Barnaby forward, grinning. |
| Barnaby blushes |
| Agnathia: | {laugh} Ok, Autumne... you wish me to make a reading for Barnaby? |
| Lilac: | Careful. |
| Lilac: | You nearly stepped on me. |
| Autumne gives 30 copper pieces to Agnathia. |
| shuffle... |
| a card is drawn... |
| Agnathia: | The past.... mmmm.... |
| Barnaby loks worried |
| Agnathia: | Queen of Swords. |
| Agnathia: | You know or knew a woman. |
| Agnathia: | She is lovely but brings danger too. |
| another card is drawn |
| Agnathia: | The present |
| Agnathia: | Nine of Pentacles |
| Agnathia: | It would seem your life is changing and you've found a fellowship.... of friends? |
| Autumne: | That must be us |
| Agnathia: | You believe you've found a life of peace. |
| Autumne grins. |
| Agnathia: | Perhaps a settling. |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} After today? |
| Another card is drawn. |
| Agnathia: | The future.... |
| Agnathia: | "Strength" |
| Agnathia: | Interesting.... not what I'd expect from your outward appearance. |
| Agnathia: | It seems you'll find strength in this fellowship. |
| Lilac smiles |
| Rhyslin grins |
| Agnathia: | And did someone else desire a reading? |
| Barnaby manages a faint smile |
| Autumne: | A fellowship! What a good name. It's much better than Fairfield-Valorde Joint Militia Initiative! |
| Autumne: | Easier to shout when chasing orcs, too. |
| Rhyslin chuckles |
| Agnathia smiles and chuckles softly. |
| Lilac: | Another time, Agnathia, I will return for a reading. |
| Autumne: | I, too. |
| Rhyslin: | Well, if no other readings are to be done, perhaps we can talk of seances |
| Agnathia: | I only say what I see... often the cards are mysterious in what they say. |
| Agnathia: | Certainly... proceed my friends... what questions do you have? |
| Lilac: | Well, where to begin, what precautions need to be taken.... |
| Agnathia laughs! |
| Agnathia: | Precautions! Oh my... such naive but brave adventurers. |
| Agnathia: | Well, you know how to draw a protective shield correct? |
| Agnathia: | A spirit barrier? |
| Rhyslin: | Uh... |
| Autumne: | I can't use a shield with my bow. |
| Rhyslin: | I think we need to begin with the basics |
| Lilac nods. |
| Agnathia: | I see we have a comic in the group... that's good.. it might keep you brave enough to go through with such tasks. |
| Agnathia: | So did you wish to hire me to teach you to hold a seance yourselves? |
| Autumne: | Unless...can we hire you to do the seance? |
| Agnathia: | It would be a possibility. |
| Autumne: | Would Lord Darby pay for that, Rhyslin? |
| Agnathia: | I won't leave my home without cash up front. |
| Rhyslin: | I imagine it would depend on the fee, and whether it is politically feasible |
| Agnathia: | Where would we be holding this seance? |
| Autumne: | I bet the Witchfinder is free. He probably does it as a kind of hobby,. |
| Rhyslin: | The ghost is inhabiting Castle Darby |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} Hed probably do it better, too. He does it all the time |
| Agnathia: | Then you'd be wanting to perform the seance in Castle Darby. |
| Autumne: | He'd do an exorcism, Barnaby, that's different. |
| Rhyslin: | I have an item that seems to have been connected with the ghost Lenore |
| Lilac nods in agreement with Agnathia. |
| Rhyslin: | Yes, that is what I presumed |
| Agnathia: | Excellent Rhyslin, that would be essential for a good chance of success. |
| Lilac: | And, she has spoken to the inhabitants of the castle at least once. |
| Lilac: | Well, to one person, anyway. |
| Agnathia: | So we may have a cooperative spirit... good... good... |
| Lilac: | Um, what kind of fee are we speaking of here? |
| Agnathia: | To hire me to come and personally conduct the seance? 500 copper plus expenses |
| Rhyslin: | Yes, I think we'd have to know that, or how much you'd like to teach us, if that is even possible. |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} Y'know lots of people would like to see a real seance. |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} Lots would pay to see it... |
| Lilac: | Barnaby, that is NOT a good idea. |
| Autumne: | Hmm, but wouldn't a big audience just scare the ghost away? |
| Rhyslin: | This will not be a public seance, Barnaby |
| Agnathia: | For 100 copper I could teach you the essentials. |
| Agnathia: | {loudly} I do not PERFORM! |
| Autumne: | Good idea though! |
| Autumne pats Barnaby on the back. |
| Agnathia: | This isn't a circus act! |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} eek |
| Barnaby looks at Agnathia with fearful respect |
| Autumne: | {quietly says} {whispers to Barnaby} she's scary when she gets mad. |
| Autumne looks nervously outside at the storm. |
| Agnathia: | You've not seen "mad". |
| Autumne: | Eeek! |
| Lilac: | Barnaby, Autumne, this isn't the type of thing you want a lot involved in....remember the witchfinder? |
| Autumne: | Imagine if Farmer Macca heard about it!! |
| Rhyslin: | Personally, I think it would be better to hire you as a professional, but I'm not sure if Lord Darby could be seen hiring you. |
| Agnathia: | Perhaps if you are low on funds an additional 75 copper would be enough for a quickie course. |
| Lilac cringes at the thought. |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} Yes ma'am |
| Agnathia: | It would be understandable if Lord Darby avoided any direct involvement. |
| Agnathia: | I am discreet. |
| Rhyslin: | I'm sure you are, ma'am |
| Rhyslin: | Lilac, what do you think? |
| Agnathia: | So what will it be? A quick lesson? Or a contract? |
| Lilac: | Well, I agree that Lord Darby would probably not want to be directly involved. |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} What if the folk at the fayre were to hold a private perfomance for his lordship, y'know, as cover |
| Lilac: | I'm not even sure he would be willing to pay, as it might put him in conflict with the church. |
| Lilac sighs |
| Rhyslin: | That is my concern exactly |
| Autumne: | 5 silver though...that's 3 month's pay! |
| Autumne: | I think you'll have to go for the crash course, Rhys, and we'll keep our fingers crossed on the night! |
| Agnathia: | I assume you have good reason for performing this seance. It's not something you do just for entertainment! |
| Lilac: | I think, perhaps, we had best keep the risk for ourselves. |
| Rhyslin: | Aye, I think I agree. |
| Agnathia: | There is risk no matter how the matter is approached. |
| Autumne: | We mean to free the spirit of this dead girl, Mistress Agnathia, if we can. |
| Rhyslin: | I'm willing to pay the 100 for the course |
| Autumne: | We can wait for you at the Mitre. |
| Autumne: | How long will it take? |
| Agnathia: | Very well... do you have time now? Are you good at taking notes? |
| Rhyslin: | Yes |
| Lilac: | Shall I stay? |
| Agnathia: | Aye, but your comic isn't necessary. |
| Autumne: | I imagine each must pay to stay and listen? |
| Rhyslin: | I'd like you to, if you are willing and Agnathia would allow it |
| Agnathia: | Nay, 100 will do for your "fellowship" |
| Barnaby: | {quietly says} And ye could slip in The rains stopped. How do you do that? |
| Lilac looks at Autumne. |
| Lilac: | You are waiting at the inn, then? |
| Agnathia: | It would be best to discuss these matters here... the Inn might have people too curious for their own good. |
| Autumne: | I shall yes. |
| Autumne bows to Agnathia. |
| Lilac: | Barnaby? What about you? |
| Autumne: | You staying, Barnaby? |
| Rhyslin: | Barnaby, I guess you can go with Autumne.... or stay if you promise to be quiet |
| Autumne: | I think we'll meet you at the Mitre when you're done. |
| Rhyslin: | OK, see you later |
| Agnathia: | Ok, Lilac, Rhyslin... shall we start? |
| Lilac nods her agreement. |
| Rhyslin: | Here is your fee, along with a gratuity |
| Agnathia: | First and perhaps most important is to be able to settle your mind into a calm state. |
| Agnathia: | Thank you. {smile} |
| Agnathia pockets the money. |
| Agnathia: | You want to make sure stray fears do not cross your mind during the seance. |
| Lilac: | I have more fear of the witchfinder than of Lenore. |
| Agnathia: | I'd suggest you practice meditation for a week or two before you conduct the seance... it is important you keep your mind clear. |
| Agnathia: | Understood? |
| Rhyslin: | Yes |
| Lilac nods |
| Agnathia: | You will want to draw a "spirit shield" |
| Rhyslin: | You mentioned that, however I don't know how |
| Agnathia: | With purified beach sand draw a pentacle large enough to sit inside. |
| Lilac: | How is the beach sand purified? |
| Agnathia: | Very very carefully... you need to make sure you have ONLY grains of sand... no dirt! |
| Rhyslin: | We can go to the southern shore, unless you have some we could buy |
| Agnathia: | Put candles made of Neval wax at the points of the pentacle. |
| Lilac: | Neval wax? |
| Agnathia: | I could sell you enough sand or you could send to Hadren for some. |
| Agnathia: | You can buy Neval wax candles in Hadren too. |
| Agnathia: | You'll need to capture a live crow. |
| Agnathia: | Of course it would be best if you had someone related or at least has talked to the person who's spirit you wish to contact. |
| Rhyslin: | Hmm, Katie is a decendant of the ghost's murdered lover.... |
| Rhyslin: | And has spoken to her |
| Lilac nods. |
| Lilac smiles |
| Lilac: | I am sure she would be willing to help. |
| Agnathia: | Ok, perhaps you can convince this Katie to participate in the seance. |
| Lilac: | But, she is young. |
| Agnathia: | Buy a iron caudron. |
| Agnathia: | Fill the cauldron with water and a sprinkle of ginsing. |
| Rhyslin: | I work with Ginsing, so that should be easy |
| Agnathia: | You must bring the ginsing and water mixture to strong boil so that it will give off a slight fog. |
| Lilac: | How big of a cauldron? |
| Agnathia: | The caudron can be quite small. |
| Agnathia: | You only need a small caudron... perhaps only a couple inches in diameter. |
| Lilac: | Alright. |
| Agnathia: | Make sure it's large enough though so the mixture doesn't completely boil off before you are finished. |
| Agnathia: | With the mixture boiling penetrate the crow's heart with a blessed dagger. |
| Agnathia: | Let the crow's blood drip into the mixture. |
| Lilac looks startled. |
| Lilac: | oh. |
| Rhyslin gulps |
| Lilac: | what kind of blessing on the Dagger? |
| Agnathia: | Call upon the spirit world to harken to your voice. |
| Agnathia: | Oh Lilac, you can just have Brother Leyton wash a dagger in holy water and bless it... it's really nothing fancy... just don't even think of using a dagger that has recently been employed as a weapon. |
| Lilac: | I see. okay. |
| Agnathia: | For maximum effect you could have a brand new dagger forged for the seance. |
| Rhyslin: | That was my thought |
| Agnathia: | After calling for the spirits to hearken to your voice quickly add some item that has a CLOSE association with the spirit you wish to contact. |
| Agnathia: | Then if you are lucky and everything is in order and the spirit is cooperative you should be able to speak with them. |
| Agnathia laughs charmingly. |
| Lilac: | Um, what is the worst that could happen if we are unlucky? |
| Lilac chews on her lip. |
| Agnathia: | Oh... it's best to do the seance at midnight when the barrier between the material world and the spirit world is thinnest. |
| Agnathia: | Worst? |
| Lilac nods |
| Agnathia: | Surely Lilac you don't even wish to know the worst. |
| Lilac sighs unhappily. |
| Agnathia: | If you somehow anger a spirit you might end up with an unwanted encounter with a spirit. |
| Lilac: | Will the shield keep all the spirits within it? |
| Agnathia: | That's why you'll want that spirit shield. |
| Rhyslin: | OK, let's plan on not doing that |
| Lilac gives Rhyslin a grin. |
| Agnathia: | No, no... I don't believe you'd have the skill to contain the spirits within the shield. |
| Lilac: | I am most concerned with keeping any problems, um, contained. |
| Agnathia: | But the shield should keep them from you as long as you stay within the shield. |
| Lilac: | What about those that aren't involved and are outside of the shield? |
| Agnathia: | It takes a lot of power to contain a spirit... very different than just calling upon one and communicating. |
| Rhyslin: | I presume we should keep everyone well away |
| Agnathia: | The spirit will be drawn to the mist emitted from the caudron. |
| Agnathia: | The spirits would be unlikely to wander far... your conjuring will be drawing them. |
| Agnathia: | But yes... it would be wise to keep others away from the immediate area! |
| Agnathia: | Well, is that clear enough? |
| Agnathia: | Any questions? |
| Rhyslin: | Seems clear enough |
| Lilac: | Not at present...I just hope when we work through this, that we don't discover any questions then! |
| Lilac: | Thank you, Agnathia. |
| Rhyslin: | Did you say you had some sand and maybe Neval wax candles we could buy from you? |
| Agnathia: | Feel free to contact me if you need further knowledge... you two seem very sensible and I have a feeling of good trust between you two. |
| Agnathia: | I don't wish to appear to be too greedy to profit from you. |
| Agnathia: | I'd recommend you have a reliable merchant import the sand and Neval candles from Hadren. |
| Rhyslin: | Well, you know the materials, and I feel I can trust you, unlike any merchants from Hadren |
| Agnathia: | I'm honored by your trust... but seeing as I'm low on supplies myself I fear I'd have to charge you too much. |
| Agnathia: | Do you know Appledore? |
| Rhyslin: | Yes, I do a lot of business with him |
| Lilac: | Yes we do. |
| Lilac: | I wonder if supplies will get through, with the problems on the road. |
| Agnathia: | Ok, have Appledore send one of his boys to Hadren. Have them stop here along the way and I'll give him a scroll and instructions for buying the correct items. |
| Rhyslin: | He could get the supplies we need? except for the {gulp} crow.... |
| Agnathia: | He can bring the items here on his way back and I'll inspect them (and collect the items I need) to make sure they will suit your purpose. |
| Agnathia: | You'll need to catch the crow fresh yourselves. |
| Lilac: | Well, that should be a sight. |
| Rhyslin: | Yeah, I know... |
| Lilac laughs nervously. |
| Rhyslin: | Well, I think we know what we need to do, I just hope we do it right |
| Lilac: | Thank you, Agnathia, for your help. |
| Agnathia: | If you don't have further questions I shall retire for a nice morning's sleep. |
| Agnathia: | You are most welcome. |
| Agnathia curtseys. |
| Rhyslin: | Sorry to have kept you up |
| Lilac: | I guess we better see if Barnaby is under a table somewhere! |
| Rhyslin: | We thank you very much |
| Lilac curtseys |
| Agnathia: | I do most of my work at night {smile} |
| Agnathia: | Enjoy your day. |
| Agnathia: | Good luck my new friends. |
| Rhyslin: | I wonder who that lady is though.... |
| Rhyslin laughs |
| Agnathia: | Have you met any noble women lately? |
| Rhyslin: | Well, there's Lady Delora.... |
| Agnathia: | Balar's wife? |
| Rhyslin: | Yes, just met her this morning |
| Agnathia: | Now that's a great honor indeed if you have made the aquantance of Lady Delora. |
| Rhyslin: | And the ghost was noble, I believe |
| Agnathia: | You'd be wise to not give her any romantic thoughts! |
| Lilac: | Maybe Melody has nobility somewhere in her line? |
| Lilac: | We should let you go, now. |
| Rhyslin: | Yes, thank you again |
| Agnathia: | At Castle Darby you can't help but know a few ladies with royal blood. |
| Lilac waves goodbye. |
| Agnathia: | You are very polite Lilac... it's been nice meeting you. |
| Rhyslin: | Thank you, and bye |
| Rhyslin stretches |
| Barnaby blushes |
| Lilac wiggles her toes and yawns. |
| Daneni: | Not a dead-- oh hello Rhyslin! |
| Barnaby: | Lets go Home |
| Barnaby glares at Daneni |
| Lilac: | You haven't emptied Daneni's ale barrles have you? |
| Daneni: | They had a little more.. |
| Lilac chuckles |
| Daneni has given an item to Rhyslin |
| Daneni has given an item to Lilac |
| Daneni: | And you can too. For the road. |
| Daneni: | p |
| Daneni: | Still no word from Elric, I'm afraid. |
| Rhyslin: | Thank you |
| Lilac sips the ale. |
| Lilac: | Ah, thank you Daneni. |
| Lilac: | That hits the spot. |
| Rhyslin: | Ah well, I guess I'll either have to come back or do without |
| Daneni: | I have to go and see him this morning about a fresh delivery for this week's celebration. I'll mention you were after him. |
| Rhyslin: | Thanks |
| Lilac: | Well, shall we head back to Fairfield then? |
| Rhyslin: | Yes, lets |
| Daneni: | Good journey! |
| Barnaby: | Bye bye |
| Daneni waves. |
| Barnaby waves |
| Rhyslin: | Shall we go west and pick up the road there? |
| Lilac: | I like cross-country, myself, but either way. |
| Rhyslin: | {shouts} Cross country> |
| Rhyslin: | {shouts} ? |
| Lilac: | {shouts} happily! |
| Lilac: | {shouts} I often think it is much less dangerous |
| Rhyslin: | {shouts} Been up all night, would like to avoid many more fights |
| Rhyslin: | {shouts} Autumne, I forgot, would you like us to accompany you to Valorde? |
| Lilac: | {shouts} She was with us, where did she go. |
| Rhyslin: | {shouts} Autumne? |
| Lilac: | {shouts} She's independent, she should be okay...I hope. |
| Rhyslin: | {shouts} Aye |
| Rhyslin: | {shouts} Urk |
| Lilac: | {shouts} drat |
| Barnaby: | To the Inn? |
| Lilac: | {shouts} yes. |
| Lilac laughs |
| Barnaby: | Hello Joan |
| Joan: | Welcome. How may I help you? |
| Barnaby: | Here is a note from Daneni |
| Lilac: | I'm impressed, Autumn. |
| Autumne: | I'm a ranger... |
| Autumne grins. |
| Lilac: | Well, I was quite sure you were okay, but figured you went back to Valorde...not beat us back to Fairfield! |
|
