Nagafen Raid
Saturday April 14, 2001

One of our finest commanders, Bauvier Staarm, participated in a raid on Lord Nagafen and brings us these pictures and report of tactics used.

Approaching the dragon, the brave begin to fall.

As the casualties mount up the Dragon is severely wounded.

Bauvier is slain!

The slain litter the floor.

Bauvier stands in the middle of the victorious heros.

Lord Balar,

I had the pleasure of attending a Raid on Lord Naggafin last night. After getting together outside in Lava Storm we all moved in to prepare for the upcoming battle. One group had been down there earlier trying to knock out the Fire Giants that protect his Liar but left about 10 of them for us to kill. With our six groups it didn't take us too long and were able to dispatch them with minimal loss of life. After there threat had been vanquished we quickly set to removing all our buffs. This confused me as this was my first time taking on this beast. I soon was told that he dispels the first 4 buffs you have up so you put worthless ones up there and then gets the buffs you want from other in the raid. After everyone is buffed the tanks camp out and go create a chat room for all to meet in. The Bards stick around to help the casters recover mana then they camp out also. Once everyone is in the chat room the raid leader gives the word and everyone logs back in. Once everyone is regrouped and back in and ready, the word is given for the tanks to charge. You are told that you head back to get healed at 50% life but found that most of the time you ended up getting back with about 20%. The battle was long and Hard and seemed that all was going well. Once he got below 40% life the blaster were to come in and try to hit with any spells they could. We were able to get him down to about 15% life when I realized that there were only about ten others left alive. Needless to say it wasn't long before me and the rest of the raid were dead. We then all got our rez's and employed a new tactic. All casters bound there in the room they were healing in. This way if they died they were right there with full mana. With this said and the whole process of rebuffing done we moved in again. This time the mighty beast fell. It went remarkably well and seemed to take half the time we spent the time before. So the spoils. Being my first raid I was supprised at the well organized way the loot was rolled on. He dropped 2 blade stoppers(sheilds), 2 Bard drums, Blight(Shaman hammer), and a Golden dagger. Needless to say that neither the scale or the book which are both the "good" drops and used for epics were dropped. I happened to be lucky enough to get one of the Bladestoppers. After all this we all departed except a couple who were staying around to camp Ragefire. It was a great time and wish that all of you could have come. Soon enough though a lot of people will be eligible to do these type of raids and encourage all to give it a try. I have sent some screen shots that I took and hope that you will post them for all to see.
