While buying supplies in Thurgradin the great dwarven city located in the frozen
wastes of Velious. Myself the great Turminator, renowned gnollslayer of South
Karana, was set upon by Mezzery and Geeon from Forces of Darkness. Mezzery using
his powerful magics charmed myself, and ordered me to slay Lord Balar himself.
Fighting the intense magic was a struggle and I was quickly over powered. But
first I managed to inform the mighty army of Forces Of Light what was happening.
Geeon the dirty halfling ported me to SRO, where a massed army of FoL were waiting
to free me. Unfortunately I was still under the control of the mighty Mezzery,
and proceeded to slay Zilaril and Zybor. Up stepped Cyus and a long and mighty
battle was fought, spell after spell rained down upon me but still I fought
with a power bestowed upon me by evil itself and eventually Cyus fell before
my sword. Fearing the evil enchantment couldn't be broken and that Forces Of
Light were doomed, up stepped Mykil and struck me taking my focus off slaying
Zephryx. Filled with rage I rained blow after blow upon Mykil taunting him to
fight me. Instead he just stood there saying that he would never fight a friend
of his. Eventually Mykil fell beneath my mighty blows and died at my feet. In
doing so the evil enchantment was broken and Turminator was freed from his evil
captivity. Turminator was filled with grief at slaying his friends, but quickly
rejoiced that Forces Of Light, his friends, were willing to sacrifice their
lives to save one of their own.
Turminator Illbeback
A true friend and Ally to Forces Of Light
PS
I would like to give a very special thanks to ALL that attended and helped make
this spur of the moment event work. I think all had fun, and I was greatly impressed
with the amount of people willing to stop hunting, leave their groups, to come
and help make this work. It just goes to show that roleplay does still live
in Everquest.

Quite a few players have shown an interest in doing quests to obtain titles. Unfortunately I really don't have the time to create custom quests for each person. (and it's a bit of a nightmare even keeping track of who has done what if they turn in proof of doing a quest to an officer rather than myself.
So I'd like to create a new position, "Steward". In medieval times a steward was the lord of a castle (ran the castle) in the absence of the lord. If anyone is interested in this position please let me know. Essentially this would entain taking applications for titles and assigning quests (this would be routed through me via e-mail to oversee). Send me an e-mail if you'd like to have this position - Balar

Premier Arcane Advisor Toxy brings us word that the legendary wizard Al'kabor has been conducting experiments in the "fusibility" of certain ores. By mixing velium ore with other ores he has found that materials can be formed that are highly resistant to the elements (cold, heat, etc).

An excerpt from the journal of Granitbrow Thunderfoot, Cleric of Brell;
As nightfall descends on us this day, I find myself once again in the company of MLord Balar and the Lady Delora. Joining us this time on our little adventure are Solwen the Bard, Cenadebe the Wizard and Ruttroh the Warrior. A finer group of companions I could not ask for. It has been a very long day of travel and excitement and I am nearly ready to give myself up to the fitful slumber that I am sure awaits me. However I dare not avoid or shy away from sleep as Brell may have further words of instruction or guidance for his humble servant.
As I gaze around at this group of companions who have followed me far from
their homes I am greatly moved and touched by their loyalty and willingness
to fight, and perhaps even die, for a vision presented to me by a God they do
not even follow or believe in. I am proud to say they have taken me at my word
and believe as I do that this mission is of great importance in our continuing
battle with the Forces of Darkness. Great and wonderful stories shall be told
around the pubs and hearths of Kaladim upon my return, this I vow to each and
every one.
Currently, Balar and Delora are huddled together for warmth on the far side of the campfire. They seem to be enjoying the pot of rabbit stew I prepared and shared amongst my friends. Ruttroh, always the alert and wary is standing off in the shadows standing guard over our campsite. Solwen is quietly strumming the strings on some ancient lute, entertaining us all with her beautiful voice and fine tales of far off lands and old days. And there is poor little Cenadebe, already asleep after spending several hours looking over some ancient tome, making an occasional note in some cryptic language I shall never understand. We all must rest and regain our strength, for todays battle took it's toll on each and every one of them. We shall rest here for another day or so before returning to the Crypt of Dalnir, the reason for our mission.
Ah yes, our mission. I suppose I should elaborate a little on my mission. For it truly is MY mission. One that I must accomplish or pay with my life. A few short days ago, as I was bidding farewell to our good friend Turminator after having helped him secure his new home in the former lair of the Splitpaw tribe of gnolls, I was making my way through the Southern Plains of Karana when I happened upon a lone gnoll. As I prepared myself for battle with this mangy creature, I was utterly astonished to hear him call out my name and beckon me to come near. Not knowing what to think of this odd situation, I lowered my mace and cautiously approached. It seems this particular gnoll, who referred to himself as Brother Drash, had been raised by the humans of the Northern Plains area, and had learned the language of man, as well as the kindlier and gentler ways of their religion. He immediately recognized me as a fellow creature who has obeyed a divine calling and offered me some fine local food and drink. As night was falling, we decided to make camp for the evening and share some of our philosophies. Of course, I had to share with my new friend some of Kaladims finest brew. In moderation, of course .. hehe
As the evening wore on and the twilight gave way to the beautiful starlit sky of these southern planes, I was once again startled at the vision I saw before me. Standing where Dresh was but moments ago was Brell Himself, looking magnificent in his fine plate armor. At first I was taken aback. Then I remembered that the gnolls of Splitpaw considered themselves to be the true children of Brell. Perhaps there is actually some truth to this ancient tale? I must report this strange occurrence to Vicar Blesser at my first opportunity. I immediately drew another mug of fine Dwarven Ale and offered it to my new guest. He smiled and accepted it, which made me happy beyond belief. I, a simple and humble cleric, had just served my God a mug of ale.
After finishing his drink, Brell spoke to me. My head was filled with a vision of a peculiar hammer, the likes of which I had never seen before. Once I had had ample time to commit this image to memory, the vision began to move, as if I were backing away from this hammer. Back through passageways and corridors, back through other passages hewn from rock with many side halls. Back, back through an ancient forest. Along a wild, rushing river through the mountainous terrain. Past a towering fortress of giants. Now the vision was retreating faster. I fought to keep myself from falling over as I was beginning to become dizzy from the effect. Regaining some inner strength, I opened my eyes again and found myself flying above a tremendous lake. Old and crumbling statues doted the shoreline. Statues of the lizard race known as the Iksar. Obviously I was looking at the Lake of Ill Omen.
I am sure Brell was aware that I knew this region well, having spent considerable time here hunting the powerful Sarnak legions. It was then that the flying vision was replaced with an image of Carer. I fell back, thinking the foul witch was there in front of me as I sat at my small campfire. The swirling mists around her revealed to me that it was just another vision. And then, Brell spoke to me:
Granitbrow, my friend and faithful follower. I have come to you to assign you an important task. One that will be fraught with dangers at nearly every turn. However, I am confident you will succeed. The balance of power between the Light and the Dark balances on the edge of a dagger. This dagger must not be allowed to fall into the hands of your enemy Carer.
Go to the Crypts of Dalnir and retrieve for me the Forged Hammer of Dalnir. This hammer is a vital tool in the forging of the Visceral Dagger. While this small weapon seems to be of little value, in the wrong hands it could mean the fate of the entire world. Even now, Carer has dispatched some of her minions to seek out the four items needed to forge this blade. But without the Hammer of Dalnir, their efforts will be for naught. You shall gather a small group of companions and instruct them only that you are on a mission of dire importance and you seek to secure the hammer from the Crypt of Dalnir.
Your way will be dangerous and not without loss. I have been watching you, Granitbrow, and now deem you worthy of one of my greatest gifts. The ability to Revive a fallen comrade. Use this gift well, for it is not one I give lightly. But be aware that after using this gift, both you and your companion will be utterly drained and will require much time to recover.
Do not fail me, Granitbrow. The fate of all Norrath hangs in the balance.
I awoke the next morning to the sound of thunder and torrential downpour. My companion Dresh was nowhere to be seen, but on the ground there were 3 mugs with the scent of Kaladim Ale. I quickly gathered my things and made my way to High Keep to consult with Lord Balar. I knew that MLord would want to hear of this vision and would know how best to proceed. Little did I know he and Lady Delora would decide to join me on my quest. Now, I must put my quill aside and rest. Tomorrow will be spent caring for the wounds of my companions and learning all we can about the denizens of the Crypt of Dalnir.
Sunday July 22, 2001
Granitbrow indicated that he'd had a vision (I still think he just had too much to drink). Based upon this vision we have assembled a team of brave adventurers and we now race to recover a valuable item from deep within Dalnir's crypt before the Forces of Darkness can obtain it.
Our first attempt was turned back and we were forced to retreat to the entrance of Dalnir's Crypt to camp. We shall return!
Saturday July 21, 2001
Our raid on Paw was extremely successful. Many of the elite gnolls fell to our might. We hope Turminator is now enjoying a peaceful occupation of Splitpaw. Some of you that are a bit new to massive raids might want to pay a bit more attention to not falling off ledges {grin}.

The Guildbug has bitten again. Kieel will be on around 5 pm EST today to do reinvites. Kieel submitted a detailed bug report this time and also spoke with a GM again. This time the GM stated that it was a known issue related to zones crashing. Kieel informed him that none of the zones our guildmates were in went down and he said that the bugs were still related. Please be patient and give Kieel, Tannix, Roars, Zephyrx, Balar, Delora, Bouldernose, or Granitbrow a tell in game.

Kilarny's bio has been posted.
My Lord,
A victory as been won, albeit a hollow one. I was made privy to information
that the Baron was making way from Befallen in fear of our assault on his lair.
In hearing so Swift Strike proceeded quickly to detour his departure until a
full scale assault could begin. Upon our arrival in the dank and musty dungeon
we set out to destroy all we saw. When our strike team met with the bottom of
he dungeon we found the bulk of the Baron's forces had been withdrawn. In fact
only a simple band of miscreant shadow knights and necromancers remained behind
who lacked the force to stop us. It is clear the Baron left his wounded and
weak behind to die in hopes to put distance between he and our pursuit.
It is with this knowledge I would withdraw my request for raid as no life in
Forces of Light should be put to risk to fight the expendable of our foe. It
will be my mission to continue to track the foul Baron and one day lay his sword
at your feet. With this I apologize to you Ainmire for not preventing the demon
from escaping. It is far to hard for me to understand foes that fight with out
honor and flee from battle and I must dedicate time to the research of such
for one is never strong until one knows his enemy.
Your servant,
Kilarny

Mykil's bio has been posted. And here is a message from Kilarny:
My Lord,
I wish to inform you of troubling stories the bard's are singing of Befallen.
It seems an archy enemy of our clan as taken residence in Befallen and is increasing
the presence of evil there. I fear if we do not stage a full scale assualt soon
the dead will rise in unbreechable numbers and beseech the Commons. In such
I have petitioned my Master Kieel and he agrees to join if allowed to invade.
I humbly ask My Lord to be granted your to lead a raid on Befallen with the
mighty Swift Strike team. I would invite the mass of FoL to join us as the more
of we bring the more evil we might spend back to Stixx. In trophy I seek only
the sword of the Baron but any and all other treasures that dropped will be
distributed to the brave souls that join us. I shall also add my own Crystalline
Blade to the plunder upon slaying the Baron.
I propose the raid to occur on the evening of Wedensday July 11, in advance
of planed raids of FoD in following days, and in accordance with the schedule
of my Master Kieel. I would suggest 5:00 central as a time but surrender to
your advanced knowledge for time. In closing I would ask My Lord that not only
you grant permission fo rthis raid but join it yourself as I know you have no
fond memories for the Baron and suspect you should like to see him slain. As
always I humbly await your commands.
Your Servant,
Kilarny

M'lord,
Cherryh and I were having some fun with a couple blue smurfs, err... Zormek and Sunaien at Crow's bar in Qeynos. We knew you'd consulted with Sunaien in the past regarding ancient history and figured they were more or less harmless. Perhaps a bit stiff, but harmless none the less. We were enjoying ourselves in the pond (they sure do shrink up in the cold water), before we headed upstairs to a remote corner. They said something about all the guards watching us were making them nervous.
After perhaps a few too many white wines and brandies the situation turned a bit serious. Cherryh was playing with Sunaien and he was pretending to tie her up. Well, I guess he wasn't pretending. Anyway, Sunaien kept pressing Cherryh for information about a book, spells and something about "translocation" (whatever that might be).
When I saw a knife in Sunaien's hands I decided it was time to get away. With my feminine charms I was able to distract Zormek and I slipped away. I know Cherryh was carrying a valuable book. I fear it is now in the hands of Darkness. We really must send a team to rescue Cherryh. I know she was having fun but it looked like trouble was brewing when I slipped away. We probably should give Cherryh a bit of education, she's a lot of fun but perhaps a bit naive. I'll talk to Zephyrx and Cenadebe and we'll see if we can give her a few tips.
Embarrassingly yours,
Meeni
This was one of our most hilarious events. Thanks everyone for the great sense of humor. Don't forget to keep an eye on Darkness's site to see what nefarious plans they might have for Cherryh.
A photo page for Delora's picnic has been posted.
Saturday July 7, 2001
Delora's Picnic Festival (to celebrate her reaching "Taxi" status) was a relatively quiet affair.
Landun sang for Delora. Nice voice Landun, hopefully you'll expand to instruments soon.
Granitbrow's "Beer Braised Bear" won the cooking contest! That is some fine food Granitbrow! Enjoy the prize money and buy everyone a round of drinks.
Unfortunately several cyclops decided to crash our party. Also the giant, "Tarbul Earthstrider" took an interest and we were forced to slay him. Congrats everyone! That's our second named giant to be brought down (long ago we brought down Cazel). I'd like to compliment "Swift Strike" on their fast reaction time to arrive in time to provide much needed extra healing. Special thanks to non-guildmembers Wilye and Kinna for helping! Kieel, once again you were the hero of the day. Zormek of FoD deserves special mention for coming to meet with us under truce. Zormek is certainly a most honorable foe.

Lord Balar,
It's been a long time since our forces battled Lanys T'Vyl. I hope time and Lady Delora have been treating you well. Your Forces of Light have been doing a good job and I see them often all over Norrath.
I'm writing you concerning Befallen. It appears the T'Vyl's are moving in. I would recommend that you send a force to investigate!
Dismey
Lord Balar,
I've arrived in the fair city of Erudin. It is beautiful and peaceful. I can see why Al'Kabor would chose this as a place to do serious research. Enclosed is the information from Josper Kenshed about Cenadebe.

Here is a bit of humor, courtesy of Roars (not sure who the original poster is):
So there I was.....minding my own business in The Overthere, when all of a sudden I see the message: "d00d sow plz".
Of course, my natural instinct was not to answer, since I thought the clueless newb (hereafter referred to politely as "the petitioner") must have been poorly informed at best.
Boy was I ever wrong.
I switch out of 1st person into an external camera, and what did my wandering eyes behold? Only myself and the petitioner.
So I says to myself...."Self? You need to edumacate this fella!"
(Keep in mind what the overall setting looked like: There I was, in skeleton form, carrying a scythe, FLOATING IN MIDAIR IN A MEDITATING POSITION, with a LARGE dark-brown skeleton named "Gibober" standing behind me. Ummm....No, skippy, I'm not a druid or a shaman.)
I say "Wish I could, bro, but I don't have SoW. I'm a Necromancer."
The Petitioner says, "$#*&@#$ dick, sow me already! it's for a cr"
Feeling as if my feathers had been ruffled a bit, I do a "/who all dumbass" (um..pardon..I meant "/who all petitioner")
This is where I discovered the "/who all" bug. Certainly it must have been a bug, right? There's NO WAY IN CREATION the dumbas...err...petitioner could have been a level 31 Dark Elf Wizard, right???? RIGHT????? /em begins to cry like a little girl.
Well, needless to say, I couldn't have been any more shocked than if my pet began dancing an Irish Jig. I quickly begin the arduous task of maintaining my composure, while deciding how best to deal with this tricky situation.
I say, "Necromancer's can't cast SoW".
Petitioner says, "Bull@#$%! you cast a spell while you were running and you sped up! i couldn't catch you until you sat down! if you're not going to sow me just say so you dont have to be a dick about it a$$hole"
Yes I know....he didn't use any punctuation in that last sentence.
I say, "I have JBoots."
He says, "what are they"
Before I have a chance to pick my chin up off the floor....
Petitioner asks, "can you buff my hps my hp sux"
I say, "I can't buff you, dude. I'm a necromancer. I only have one buff that you would probably want."
He says, "yeah the one you won't give me dick"
Ok. Time to have fun with the hopelessly clueless.
I say, "Why do you need a sow?"
He says, "i need to get to burned woods to hunt. sumbody said its perfect for my level"
Yep. That's what he said......"burned woods".
I say, "man are you ever in the wrong place."
He says, "?"
Apparently he found the "question mark" key conveniently located nearby other various and sundry communication facilitators.
I didn't answer him.
He repeats, "??"
Found it twice...good for him.
He repeats, "???"
Having an IQ greater than plantlife, I sensed a pattern forming.
I say, "You are NO WHERE near Burned Woods."
He says, "my friend told me it was in kunark"
I say, "Yeah, the operative word there is 'WAS'. There was a major patch a couple of months ago after a bunch of complaints were filed about 'static content'."
He says, "?"
I say, "!"
He says, "?"
I say, ","
He says, "wtf"
I say, "no, already have some."
He says, "????"
I don't respond.
He says, "so where the @#$% is burned woods"
He lost the question mark button again. Probably popped off when he was sniffing his feet.
I say, "Well, THIS week it's south of Freeport. It changes with every patch, since they began randomizing zone locations."
My guild is hysterical at this point. And I haven't even told them the ENTIRE story yet. Just snippets.
He says, "@#$% i just got off the boat"
I say, "You don't need the boat."
He says "why"
I say, "You're a wizard!"
He says, "how you know that"
I say, "I did a /wh...nevermind....the important thing is you have teleportation spells."
He says, "oh yeah the green ones"
I nod.
I say, "Yep. The 'green ones'. Pretty nice how you have them grouped by color."
He says, "thx"
I say, "How'd you think about doing it that way?"
He says, "they were all @#$%## up when i got this char"
I say, "Sit down and mem the spell 'Fay Gate'."
He says, "why"
Question mark key is on the ground in front of your chair, guy. Mixed in with your collection of boogers.
I say, "It's going to put you within spitting distance of Burned Woods."
He says, "how do you know"
I say, "All patch messages come with a zone connection map."
He says, "oh"
I say, "Ok. You have it memmed now?"
He had just stood up after what I assumed was meditating/looking at his spell book.
He says, "yeah"
I say, "Ok. Cast the spell and let me know when you get there."
Dumba...errr....Petitioner begins to cast a spell.
A LONG time goes by.....ok, maybe 5 minutes I still haven't heard from him.
Getting curious:
I tell petitioner, "Are you there yet?"
No reply. No reply at all. [Yes, I'm a Genesis fan... ]
Obviously he's there, or my tell wouldn't have gone through.
I tell petitioner, "Hit the 'r' key to reply to me."
He replies, "i'm here now where do i go."
Right idea....wrong punctuation mark. Oh well. "C" for effort.
I tell petitioner, "Ok, do you see a hotkey on the screen that says 'Sense Heading'?"
He replies, "no"
I reply, "Hit the arrow buttons one by one until you see one."
It was a guess, but an educated one.
He replies, "found it"
I reply, "Click on it."
He replies, "north"
I reply, "Ok, you need to head east along the path. Keep going until the path turns north. When it forks to the right, take the right fork."
He replies, "ok"
Who knows, maybe the guy who sold his account on Ebay worked his Felwithe faction up.
He replies, "sumbody told me i shouldnt be here cause i'm a dark elf"
I reply, "They were roleplaying."
He replies, "oh hehe @#$%@#$ morons ;P"
Priceless. Utterly priceless, I tell you.
I reply, "Where are you?"
He replies, "i see something now. looks like a castle"
I reply, "Run into the castle as fast as you can. The guards might give you some trouble, just keep running."
Yeah...damned conscience started kicking in.
A fairly long period of time passes. Not sure how long, but longer than I was expecting.
I tell petitioner, "What happened?"
As if I didn't know....
He replies, "my spells are gone!"
I reply, "What happened?"
He replies, "i died why"
I reply, "Oh man! Did I tell you to run east or west?"
He replies, "east wtf???"
I reply, "Yikes. My bad. You should have run west."
He replies, "?"
I reply, "So where are you now?"
He replies, "how can i tell"
I reply, "Look right after you see 'Loading please wait'. It should tell you 'You have entered [zone]'."
He replies "it doesnt say [zone] there."
After smacking my head against my monitor....
I reply, "What does it say in place of [zone]?".
Get this....
He replies, "Burning Woods"
I nearly fell out of my chair! I couldn't have PLANNED it that way!
He replies, "is that the same as burned woods"
I reply, "No, but you're close. Start running south so you can get your corpse back."
He replies, "i have to get my corpse back?????"
/ignore petitioner
Moral of the story: EBay...Just Say No!
Out of sheer curiosity, I took him off ignore later to find out what happened.
I tell petitioner, "How's it going?"
He replies, "wtf? where you been"
I reply, "been afk, sorry."
He replies, "got my corpse back. some dude rezzed me."
My conscience somewhat eased...
I reply, "Really? Cool! Where are you now?"
He replies, "iceclad ocean"
I scratch my head a few times.
I reply, "Why Velious?"
He replies, "the guy that rezzed me told me burned woods was in western wastes this week"
I don't recall exactly how long it took me to stop laughing. I stopped breathing shortly before my dog dialed 911.
He replied, "@#$%&* wouldnt sow me either. what is that sh#$ gold?"
That's what finally killed me. I'm writing this from the afterlife.
Lord Balar,
The shopping here in Qeynos is splendid. Zephyrx and I ran into each other in a jewelry shop. She bought be a lovely set of blue earrings. I just love them.
We caught up on the latest news over a few brandies at the Lion's Mane Inn. You know they don't have tables? They have small alcoves off the bar with beds. After a few brandies I realized why {grin}.
I shall depart for Erudin soon. I promise! I still haven't found that person you wanted me to meet in Qeynos yet though. I'm sure I'll find her soon though.
Musically yours,
Cherryh

Congratulations to Mykil for becoming our second "Squire"! Good work Mykil.
(a note written in very sloppy handwriting, perhaps intoxicated)
Lord Balar,
I have arrived in Qeynos (the men are so nice here, you'd think they had never seen a wood elf before). I had some brief trouble in West Karana when some bandits jumped me and stole my stuff. A brave warrior by the name of Ramjaw rescued me, a barbarian no doubt from the size of him, but he was most civilized and kind to me. I am most impressed for he fought off three bears singlehandedly! I sang him a song and the rest of our journey to Qeynos passed quickly.
As I mentioned earlier the men here are very friendly. I was introduced to another handsome barbarian named Doctre who has offered his shaman talents to our cause.
Well ta ta, the guys are calling and I must sing another tune for them.
Musically yours,
Cherryh
Monday July 2, 2001
Lord Balar,
Mykil and his team "Swift Strike" were recalled to deal with a goblin uprising at RunnyEye Citadel. I'm sure you are aware of this and may be hastening there yourself.
I'm fully recovered from the evil magics Sunaien cast upon me. While exchanging songs with the gypsies is certainly fun, I feel the urgent nature of my mission is such that I must press on. Since no other members of Forces of Light have arrived to provide escort I shall proceed alone. I shall sing my way swiftly across the Karanas.
I leave this note with the gypsies, hopefully you'll receive it soon.
Musically yours,
Cherryh

I've added a link under the story line section called "History" to make it easier for players to access the historical information that lead to the creation of the FoL vs FoD concept.
Kilarny,
Your application for the position of "Sergeant at Arms" has been received. You will be contacted by myself or one of my officers soon.

We are experimenting with a new format for maintaining the member list. Please take a look at: Member List
Thursday June 28, 2001
A traitor among us... We have always welcomed and supported our friends in creating other guilds or leaving us for other guilds. Unfortunately one of our former members has abused our friendship. Wizout left to form another guild (which is fine). Unfortunately he also chose to lie to our members that were struck by the guild bug by telling them that they were probably /guildremoved (and then attempting to recruit them to his new guild). So unless their is a traitor that is an officer that is going around guild removing players nobody has been guild removed (other than by the guild bug). If you are guild removed for poor behavior it won't be a mystery, you'll know it. We believe the name of the renegade guild is "Nomad Spirits".

"Swift Strike" was able to successfully escort Cherryh from Rivervale to the gypsy camp in North Karana (special thanks to Cenadebe for the fast bind!). Mykil and Kilarny proved themselves brave in fighting off the minotaurs and muddites in the gorge. Traeton and Clino performed an advance scounting mission and discovered two of the FoD members laying in ambush at the bridge between East Karana and North Karana. The FoD spies were driven away only to ambush Mykil and company at the gypsy camp.
A few comments: We should be careful not to engage in guildwar melee near NPCs, the NPCs don't like it and will kill you quick! It is impossible for anyone to do an ambush because of the tracking skill. Also we found an apparent bug in that root was not working in North Karana. Guildwar is off for the rest of the evening and will be put back on Thursday Afternoon/Evening.
An e-mail was sent out this morning about our new roleplaying guildwar concept. If you didn't receive the e-mail you might want to check your status on the mailing list (send an email to Balar to let him know you have a new e-mail address or want to be included).
Mykil is looking for a couple more members to join "The Swift Strike", these are a few eager players that believe in the guild concept and are more interested in helping others and enjoying the story than leveling. If you are in your low twenties and wish to join them please contact Mykil.

We'd like to welcome our newest team "The Swift Strike" under the leadership of Mykil. May luck go with them and honor upon their swords.
Lord Balar sends his thanks to Meeni for accomplishing the task of delivering a set of drums to Cherryh. Meeni, you certainly earned that 25 PP reward.
Once again Verant has struck us with a major guild bug. Apparently nearly everyone has lost their guild status. Kieel will be travelling to all major wizard spires at 3 PM Central (9 PM GMT) today to perform re-invites.

Premier Arcane Advisor Toxy,
I've consulted with Sunaien of Darkness, regarding this note from Terblyn to Sorko. While Sunaien certainly is making an effort to research and educate himself, I believe the information he gave me that Sorko was involved with the Kerrans was a bit of misdirection. No matter whether Sunaien's comments were misdirection, treachery or ignorance, I've learned something of what Sorko was involved in.
From other sources I've learned that the great wizard Al'Kabor has been studying ancient artifacts of the Combine Empire in research of new teleportation spells. Sorko Talvazon was a former research assistant of Al'Kabor. Sorko had lead Al'Kabor to Kaesora where these tombs of ancient knowledge were found.
Al'Kabor discovered that Sorko had betrayed him and was selling some of this knowledge to Terblyn. This knowledge of "translocation" (the ability to port others without going there yourself) will no doubt fall into the hands of those most dedicated to researching and discovering these tidbits of knowledge within days. I'm led to believe that your skills are sufficient to be able to cast these magics and I recommend you stay alert to opportunities to learn the intricacies of these spells yourself.
You might also be interested to know that rumor is that Al'Kabor is also close to finding the key to teleportation to the moon known as Luclin. I'm led to believe this breakthrough is still several months away from practical application.
Reports indicate that Al'Kabor with the assistance of others stripped Sorko of his ability to perform magic. The encounter occurred in the Dreadlands. Whether this was punishment for selling the secrets they'd recently discovered or to prevent others from learning of the research regarding Luclin I don't know.
Due to Sunaien's deception I suspect the Forces of Light and Forces of Darkness may end up competing in a race to gain this knowledge. No doubt some conflict will arise between our two factions. Stay on alert for the Forces of Darkness may try to harm you as I'm sure they realize how valuable you are to us for your arcane knowledge.

Kieel and Granitbrow led an impromptu raid on RunnyEye... rumor is that they were very successful.
We have a new idea that we are looking to try. Clues / Plot / Story tidbits will be posted on the website every couple days (the first was the note from Terblyn to Sorko). This will involve players of FoL assisting the plot (protecting messengers largely) and FoD attempting to thwart them. This will involve turning on guildwar for weeks at a time (essentially on all the time).
Players should restrict their combat (don't hunt the other side). Feel free to have fun with stray encounters with each other. But higher levels should avoid hunting or killing lower level players! Fight with honor and if your opponent clearly flees let them go, don't chase anyone down to the kill. Your victory is in forcing them to flee. Most of the guildwar battles should involve the plot and random encounters between opposing sides as they attempt to assist the plot.
We suggest you continue to hunt like normal, in your normal areas. Don't pursue the plot just for the sake of the plot if it is going to take you to areas you aren't interested in going to. Certainly FoL and FoD can and may continue to group together for mutual benefit but be warned if anyone casts an area of effect spell you will be nuking your own party!
We strongly recommend you turn on /roleplay so that the other side doesn't hunt you! If you have any concerns please send e-mail to Balar. The leaders will be monitoring actions anyone that intentionally hunts down lower level players will be booted from the guild!
An open letter from Lord Balar to the guild:
Friends,
I've sent m'lady Delora to Rivervale to meet with the halflings regarding this note from Terblyn Zelbus to Sorko. Please aid Delora as you always do. We suspect this is a matter of importance and urgency and I call upon your aid as we pursue this intrigue.

RL issues prevented many from attending the tournament so it was cancelled (and ad hoc battle arranged). We will try to reschedule the tournament for sometime in the future (perhaps the end of July).
We did hold one battle overseen by Balar. Fighting for the Forces of Light was Turminator and Dika. Fighting for the Forces of Darkness was Latchisis, Gallowbraid and Xanath. Turminator focussed on Xanath and brought him down quickly. Gallowbraid and Latchisis focussed on Dika and after a long struggle Dika was slain. Turminator had just too much of a level advantage and was able to defeat Gallowbraid and Latchisis resulting in a victory for Light.

Lady Delora and Balar came across a hobbit with a message for delivery to Sorko Talvazon. The hobbit was crushed to a pulp by a Hill Giant in North Karana, alas there was no hope for keeping him alive. What little we could get out of him indicated this note was very important. He indicated this note must reach Odus. If you have any information about Sorko or Terblyn please arrange to get the information to Balar as soon as possible. This is what the note said:
Sorko,
I sent you a message several nights ago but I was told that the old grump signed for it. Get out of there, he may know. If you can, come to the temple and we'll settle things here.
I sure hope you get this message. I told the messenger to deliver it only to you this time.

Tannix is going to start organizing some raids, and these raids will be run
using a different format from usual. All raids will be advertised on both websites,
the message board and guild message of the day. When describing the raids Location,
Time, Pick up points, any loot details i.e. need before greed and level range
and amount of groups needed will be provided. The only way that you will be
able to attend these raids is by e-mailing Tannix up to 24 hours before the
raid starts. E-mail address will be supplied when the raid is posted. The reason
for this is it will enable us to organize the groups evenly before hand, we
will know who is coming and can change raid aims according. The only way you
will be able to join late will be if we are short and we recruit in Guild Chat.
Tannix will return an e-mail saying that you are in the raid. Also if we are
going to be short of numbers Tannix will know before hand and can ask friends.
Hopefully this will save the aggravation we have had in the past. So when we
form you will know who the group leaders are and whose group you are in, where
we are going, what the aim is etc, etc.

Today our forces raided RunnyEye, the goblin citadel. Following the strong leadership of Tannix and Kieel our forces met with great success.
Upon hearing rumor of trouble from the Forces of Darkness Balar lead a couple brave dwarves, Granitbrow and Zybor into Nektulos. Soon Lumaden joined us and the Forces of Darkness came at us with warriors enchanted with magical skin. At first we were unable to hit them but Toxy arrived and dispelled their enchantments.
A number of heroic battles broke out, Balar faced off against Bruzza. Lumaden took on several members of darkness at times. Everyone fought with honor. The battle appeared to be an even match as long as Darkness didn't resort to any evil magics.
A note from Squire Lumaden:
Lord Balar,
The Runnyeye raid and Guild War today were spectacular. The goblins will not
soon forget the defeat we laid upon them, and the charms they laid upon me were
avenged. Then when the war came, although I was somewhat late, and was even
slain once, I think we all did a fantastic job. Especially you, my Lord, for
defeating the disfigured ogre Bruzza. I defeated Gallowbraid and Zekan in battle,
but was forced to yield to Sunaien after he nuked me as I was trapped in what
he called a "lucky" extremely long Rooting. None of these enemies
will forget me, and I grow slowly, so the scales will be on their side when
next I meet them. I shall continue to serve you, probably returning to my post
on Kunark.
Also, when I return home in July, I will likely seek a sponsor to begin a quest
for Knighthood. However, as I said, I am going on vacation in one week, and
may be able to venture to Norrath a few times, but I will first return to my
own Gateway to Norrath before I seek sponsorship. May the blessings of Tunare
and Mithaniel Marr always shine down upon us, and may the Darkness never prevail.
I still say we kicked their sorry rears in todays war, as we shall continue
to do. I still think it lovely that a mere Squire defeated Zekan in a one-on-one
duel!

Lord Balar,
In my recent adventures, I came across Zormek, Warrior of the 36th Circle, a member of FoD, in the region of Guk. Upon seeing such scum, I was inclined to duel, and we both agreed to fight to the death. The battle lasted a few minutes. I used my Paladin spells to best advantage, and ended up defeating Zormek. As he surrendered, he retreated back into the darkness. This was definitely a victory over the FoD.

A report from Commander Nabot:
My most recent encounter with Zekan happened yesterday. I was wandering through the accursed zone of Kithicor when who should I hear screaming hollow threats across the zone but Lord Zekan. I pursued him into the Western side of the Commonlands where he continued his ranting. I challenged him to face me and he accepted.
He is a sneaky foe, calling upon forces unknown to myself to shroud him from my sight. I prevailed, using the powers I had learnt from strong worship to root him in spot and blind him. I unsheathed my mighty ghoulbane and proceeded to lay waste to this evil lord. Before I could finish him he dispersed into thin air. I spent several minutes searching for him until I felt myself pushed forward by a surge of lightning. I knew it was him. Without faltering I charged him down in an attempt to finally slay the fiend, once more he dispersed into thin air. This time however, he brought a friend. Dragoon Zytl loomed down on me, but even together they were no match for the light. A few deft attacks from my sword soon saw the Dragoon and his undead pet at my feet. As I was recovering from my battle, Zekan appeared again and began showering me in bolts of lightning and burning me with wicked magics. Once more I chased him toward the Kithicor zone. Here he fled and I was unable to find any sign of the puny dark one. A solid victory for the light I think.

Greetings Lord Balar,
I have strange news to report to you. A few moons ago an undead messenger arrived
in Thurgardin, where I'm currently residing. The Undead messenger handed me
a scroll then disappeared as strangely as he arrived. The scroll bore the mark
of Carer, Lord Zekan's second in command. Not trusting this evil witch I took
the scroll to the dwarven clerics to, dispel any harms that may have been bestowed
upon this scroll, but there weren't any. It seems that the Forces Of Darkness
have been informed of an undead evil lurking in a Frozen Tower on the continent
of Velious. This undead was beyond their control and they feared it, and Carer
was offering a cease-fire in order for both guilds to form a temporary alliance
to rid the world of this evil.
So packing my bags and recruiting a few fellow comrades, Toxy and Bouldernose,
we ported to Velious where we meet Carer and a mighty ogre warrior by the name
of Thuamuk. Putting our differences aside we ventured into this strange Frozen
Tower. The stench of evil and undead was overwhelming, only Carer seemed at
ease amongst the foul dead. Any differences and mistrusts were quickly put aside
as wave after wave of tormented souls fell before our blades and magic. Carer
was amazed that such undead were beyond her control. We ventured deeper and
deeper into the tower and the undead grew more powerful.
Upon entering the Fourth floor to this tower the corridors were small and twisty
and riddled with pit traps. Toxy suggested looking for the source of the undead
and perhaps to investigate who or what controlled these souls. After one nasty
encounter while resting and offering our prays to our own gods, a howl and screeching
noise was to be heard from down the corridor. Thuamuk on guard at the time,
was blasted with such intense force that the life was nearly drained from his
body, I called upon nature's power to heal this warrior while Bouldernose engaged
what turned out to be a powerful Undead Shadow Knight. The fight was going badly,
Carer had spent all her magical power to try and kill the shadowknight, while
Bouldernose engaged in combat that he was clearly outmatched in, Toxy summon
through a magical portal and luckily evaced as out.
Upon entering Northern Karana, we rested and gather our thoughts, Carer was
all up for heading straight back to the tower, and myself and Toxy disagreed
which lead to a series of arguments and fights.
Finally in was decided that a stronger and more numerous force would, return
to the Frozen Tower and seek out this Shadow Knight and slay him and perhaps
learn more of the secrets of this forbidden tower.
Yours Truly,
Tannix Halfelven.
OOC/ Thanks for Carer for organising this raid and Thuamuk, Toxy and Bouldernose
for attending. Unfortunately the response was poor from both sides, but fun
was had by those who participated. A special thanks to Bouldernose who at only
level 30, didn't gain a single sliver of exp and was seriously out conned in
most of the fights. A blue to Carer at level 51 is a bad red for a level 30.
Hopefully the magic ring that we looted was an ample reward for his services.
We intend to return this Wednesday night at 10pm GMT. Any welcome although level
30 plus is really necessary.

Tannix finds out the hard way
I would just like to remind the members of the forces of light, that the Forces of Darkness are now in-control of West Freeport and you are not welcome there. My self and Mordra have once again had to use the power of the freeport militia to kill one of your members Tannix (I was a bit upset that he did not die by my own hand.)
So you have now been warned for the second time.
/ooc This was due to myself and Tannix going to duel in WFP I would advise that no one duel in this zone unless in the arena as we where Trained by the guards sorry to say Tannix lost exp but did get most back due to a rez.

One of our spies was able to copy this note from Sunaien after it was delivered to Zekan. It appears the Forces of Darkness have a scholar among them that is doing historical research. We should beware, for we know not what secrets he may learn and how they might use this knowledge against us!
My Lord Zekan,
While travelling in the Desert of Ro several months ago I encountered an orc
named Ortallius. Strangely enough, this orc considered me a friend, as did his
erudite companion, Rathmana Allin. I spoke to them for a while in the shade
of Rathmana's tent and they told me a few tales about how they ended up in the
desert together. Ortallius was primarily there to fight against the Dervish
cutthroats that were camping on Solusek Ro's land. I told him that I, too, follow
the ways of the Burning Prince, and he asked me if I knew why Solusek Ro had
claimed this particular land. I had no idea, but Rathmana Allin said he had
an ancient scroll from his homeland that bore the symbol of Solusek Ro. He believed
it to be one of the historical documents written by early Erudite scholars,
but it was in a language that he could not understand. He gave me the scroll
and asked me to return to him if I ever found someone that could decipher it.
After travelling to Qeynos and enjoying several weeks of spreading Darkness
in western Antonica, my mighty ogre friend, Bruzza, was challenged to a duel
and had to head to Lake Rathetear. In his absence, I travelled to the continent
of Odus in hopes of introducing our ways to the Erudites. After making a few
alliances, I found someone well studied in the tongue of the elder Erudites.
I gave him the scroll I had obtained from Ortallius and Rathmana Allin. It turns
out that this scroll actually recounts the details of the fall of the great
elven city Takish Hiz.
At the height of the elven empire, Solusek Ro began to grow jealous. In his
anger, he targeted their most beautiful city, the only one they had yet established
in what is now called Antonica. As the lakes and rivers around Takish Hiz began
to dry up, druids were gathered in large numbers to try to battle the Burning
Prince. Rain stopped falling and the druids were unable to do anything except
slow the destruction. Eventually, they were forced to flee back to Faydwer and
the once great city of Takish Hiz sank into the sands of the Desert of Ro.

Sunaien, wizard of the 13th flame

Some advice from Lady Safka:
Lord Balar,
It was good to see you and your trusty forces at the keep again, 'tis a pity that the appearance of one of the darkness cast a shadow on proceedings.
It was good to see that Tannix had the bravery to face the foe as we might have done in days of old.
At least Carer was repelled, although I'd wager she will return and your forces will have to remain vigilant.
Now on to more pressing matters, I have learnt that you intend to adventure into the evil Tower that is found in the Iceclad. Phrozen Shadows, I have heard it called, although the translations from the Coldain's tongue is sketchy at the very least.
I myself have visited this lair, and confronted its master, the evil Tsserina. Please allow me to pass on some words of wisdom for your forces.
Firstly, beware the ice on the first floor as you enter, while much humour can be derised from a dwarf skating, the enemies around can make good of the advantage it gives them. 'Tis best not to run in this area at all. If a wizard or child Tunare can grant you the ability to levitate all the better.
The Library above is full of ghosts of students long deceased. Their homework is much sought after by the collectors of the arcane. Be warned though the key to the third level is often slow to arrive, its keeper careful not to appear to often.
Contrary to some tales the creatures cannot follow you through the portals between the floors
The Third floor has more dangerous foes, the sentient suits of armour a good match for even my skills and they have much stamina. A good word of advice though is that there is a secret passage that links the cooks chamber to the main banquet hall and the bedroom. From there many a good attack can be formed without risking the wandering guards finding you.
When you move up to the fourth level, the going gets even harder. The shadows that live here have an unbelieveable amount of health and take persistance to kill, do not engage more than two at a time without an enchanter present.
There is also pit traps around, again the use of levitation is advised.
Should you attempt to engage Cara, whose lair lies behind another secret wall, beware of the four shadows that guard the portal to level five close by, if you allow her to run she can alert them to your presence.
A perpetual wedding party goes on on the level above, adventurers would be best advised to have reached, or be close to their 50th cycle before going any further, but the rewards for those that do are many.
If you need more information I shall endevaour to relay it to you.
I the Light I trust.

Some info from Carer to prepare for the Tower of Frozen Shadows raid:
Ok first raid is a high lvl one to the tower of frozen shadows as some of the members have been getting as many keys as they can I believe they are up to lvl four *Cheers* well done.
Ok this is a hard dungeon so be ready for a adventure and not a walk through.
Planed time is Saturday 19th 7pm (GMT) and will be running for 5 hours approx (I would like one porter to be there at the end if possible for a good getaway.
I have put below what is said about this zone (it is long but very good) but there is no map.
Or you can go to www.eqatlas.com
Description
The tower appears to be something of a school for the undead. There are at least seven levels, all of which require a key to move higher, that have undead on every floor. The tower's history is shrouded in mystery, but it appears that the once-living members of the tower were brought here to remain safe during the Erudite/Heretic war, but something unknown came to pass and left them cursed to remain here forever.
Info by Level
The keys are needed to go between every level as you move higher and higher into the tower. None of the keys are soul bound, so be prepared with an evac in case you lose your key holder. The keys are used by using the key on a mirror, which will teleport your group to the next level. There are also exit mirrors located on every floor that will teleport you to a place outside the tower if you need to leave. All the keys are no drop. The keys from floors 5 and 7 are also no rent. There is no key needed to get from level 6 to level 7.
The first level consists of a lot of shadowbone skeletons as well as the other undead listed. The Large Undead Gnoll who drops the key to the next level spawns after killing any of the shadowbones or undead gnolls anywhere on the level, although is far more common off of shadowbones. Occasionally killing the Large Undead Gnoll will cause three shadowbones or shadow beasts to spawn. There is also a portal to the 7th level, but that requires the highest level key to enter. Monsters here are 28th-31st level. The centre of the floor has a large pit which is easy to fall into because the floor is very slippery, although levitate will negate the effect. Three shadowbones await you in the pit, which is also difficult to get out of because of the slipperiness of the floor.
The second level (the "Library") appears to be a school filled with students and librarians. All of the creatures here appear like ghostly erudites, humans, and dwarves. Killing students will get the Angry Librarian to spawn, who holds the key to the third level. There is also a secret bookcase in the northwest corner which leads to a mirror that will take you outside. Monsters here in 30th-34th level. Virtually all of the creatures on this level are casters. There is a trapped bookcase next to the entry, which can be disarmed.
The third level (the Servant's Quarters) is filled with various types of undead, mostly armoured shadows and others. Killing the Enraged Shadowbeast will get you the key to the next level. There is a mirror here that is in the room with a bed that will take you to the outside. Monsters here are roughly 30th - 43rd level. This level is confusing because of many long corridors and false walls.
The fourth level (the Crypt) has mummies, oozes, and shadows. The room is maze like, and one can easily get lost down dead ends in it. A key to the fourth floor is required to reach the mirror to exit the tower, which is located behind a white door right near the entrance. There are several rares that spawn in an area near the exit (near the coffin) that give some very good loot. Killing Amonpheta is required to get Cara to appear for the key.
The fifth level (the Wedding) has many undead wedding participants that appear anywhere in the zone. The significant NPCs also appear anywhere in the zone. The bride (Daman) and the groom (Nosja) spawn most of the notable loot on this level, and appear in one fixed place with the priest. The mirror to take you back outside is located right where you appear in the zone. The key to the sixth floor drops from an enraged relative.
Note on the following two level areas, some people refer to the top two areas as levels 6, 7, and 8. Others refer to them as level 6 (which has two areas) and a level 7. Be aware of this because when someone says level 6 or 8, you can be pretty sure of what they're talking about, but if they say level 7 clarify if they mean the final level or not. I will refer to them as 6A and 6B and level 7.
The sixth level is divided into two separate areas (A and B). There are two areas, separated by a mirror that doesn't require a key to get through. Upon entering level 6, you are in area 6A and you can go to the right or to the left. To the left takes you to an area where there are Icy Shades, which you must kill in order to get the Ice Shade to spawn, which is a shade that summons a pet. Killing that monster will get Vhal'Sera to spawn in area 6B. This first area is also where the special Spirits spawn, and is also the location of some nasty traps, particularly the trap on the dragon statue. Going to the right after the entrance takes you up several stairs to a ledge overlooking the shade area. Walking too close to the edge will make all these shades aggro, so be careful. Passing through the mirror there requires no key and takes you to 6B which is where Vhal'Sera drops the key for the seventh level. In this area are shrouded bats which spawn enraged vampires immediately upon their deaths. Vhal'Sera itself is highly magic resistant.
The seventh level is the home of the most powerful monster in the Tower, Tserrina. This area is much smaller than many of the other levels, and consists of essentially a long corridor, with a large spiral staircase inside that leads to another small area. In the area where you enter the spiral staircase room is a tapestry, which is a fake wall. Behind this wall is the area where Tserrina appears, randomly appearing after one of the bats in the area appear. Tserrina is a very difficult creature to defeat, because she is completely resistant to all spells. She drops a key that can be used to bypass all the keys on all the floors, so that you can pass through the alternate mirror on level one and go directly to level seven.
There is also possibly an 8th level to the tower which requires a quest to obtain the key to enter.

Sord has suggested a "Knight & Squire / Master & Apprentice" system. The basic idea is that each player over 35th level would take in an assistant. The more experienced player would send the assistant on missions (could be mundane like fetching supplies from town) and in return the experienced player would help the lower level player with buffs and guidance. If you'd like to participate in this please e-mail in who is the Knight/Master and who is the Squire/Apprentice and we will reflect this on the website. Be sure and send us some stories of your adventures. Higher level players are encouraged to recruit outside of the guild for assistant players (bring new players into the guild).

Hail Lord Balar,
I have wonderful news. The foul captain of the corrupt Freeport guard, Sir Lucan Delere, has been slain by our very own Karmeth! Several individuals including the young wizard Murpas also assisted Karmeth in the dispatching of this wretched villain. Karmeth also reports that his quest for the holy sword, Soulfire, is nearly complete.
After the battle was complete, Murpas's keen eye spied the foul enchanter Mezzery, from the Forces of Darkness, attempting to enter my beloved Freeport. Again the guards made no move to stop him! I am quite certain now that the Forces of Darkness have the Freeport guards on their payroll. This being the case, I took it upon myself to prevent this noxious gnome from entering my home.
Insults were traded, and then blows. I was mezzed, rooted, feared, and blasted in this terrible battle. Several times he escaped me, hiding to recover his mana. At the end though I found him and pummeled him with blows until he ran like a cowardly dog! He will no doubt be in Neriak for a good while licking his wounds.
Keeping Freeport Free of Evil,
Kieel
From Karmeth:
Hail
Lord Balar!
I have recently acquired my sacred SoulFire sword. I would like to thank Kieel and Sord for helping out on the Lucan Raid. I would be more than happy to help others in their quest for this holy sword. Accept my appologies for my irritation during the last battle. All that I ask is that DoTs are not used. I really appreciate your efforts to lead us and know that it takes a lot of hard work. *cheers Balar*. I've been in this guild for almost 30 levels now, and I hope to be in it many more. Thanks again for leading us, I've had a lot of fun so far.

Lord Kieel asked Ambassador Jaelithe to clarify what item she sought in Cazic-Thule.
She replied:
My Lord Kieel,
Further to the failure of your forces to discover the location of the ancient fragment, I may now be able to shed a little more light.
Increasingly, in my researches, I have come across references to a powerful creature dwelling in the ancient temple, not living, but bound by magics and thus imbued with life. The granting of life to the unliving is of course the very thing with which Spirit Magic (or Necromancy, as you term it) is concerned.
Tracing through these ancient writings, it seems to me that this powerful spell may have been used in the manufacture of this creature, and that we may well find it bound in some way to the form of the beast.
As for the manner of the creature, it appears to have been formed of metal. Look for this creature in the Ancient Temple, destroy it and bring me any fragment that remains of it, for it may be that I can reconstruct the whole from the part.
I understand that Lady Katlinel and Guards-Captain Winerose are yet searching within the ancient temple - perhaps you can gain assistance from them, or form anew another force to tackle this creature - for my writings indicate that he is guarded by fierce crocodilians, sacred to the lizardmen and may prove a dangerous foe.
Should your Forces be successful in this venture, I will sponsor a Tournament for your knights and heroes in the Arena, providing many fine prizes from the treasury brought with me from Marea.
Regards,
Ambassador Jaelithe of Marea

A report from Katlinel:
My Lord Balar,
Our assault on the lizard-infested Temple of Cazic-Thule was a mixed one. Although it was highly encouraging to see so many of the Forces of Darkness joining us against a common enemy, we were of course concerned that they would learn of our *other* mission - and would find the necromantic scroll before we did.
Alas, if they did, we know not - for we certainly found no trace of it ourselves.
Our assault began with the porting in of two groups. The first group managed to secure the area around the portal, whilst the second group took up the rear. Both groups then took and held the Throne Room. Once the foul lizardmen there were subdued, the stronger of the two groups pressed on to the Pyramid to tackle the Avatar of Fear. Alas! Disaster struck and all were slain! Once Byzah had gone back to Kunark to fetch his friend Menlaren (the cleric) <laugh> we were able to get them resurrected - with no small help from a noble Cavalier, who remained to lead our combined force in a renewed assault on the Avatar.
We penetrated right to the heart of his lair and slew him - with our own force alone.
Winerose, my ever-faithful friend, deserves special mention in this despatch - as all would agree - for taking the Avatar's Harm Touch and laughing it off :) The Fates rewarded her with his Claws!
All in all, a very enjoyable raid, with a good start, a great end and a somewhat messy middle :)
As for myself - Winerose and I will remain on in the Temple and attempt
through stealth to obtain
the fragment we seek!

Today's event again demonstrated why massive guildwars are troublesome. While I had over a half dozen people report that they were upset, overall this guildwar didn't go any worse than expected. Hopefully many of the newer players better understand some of the issues and problems we have with large wars.
The primary changes we recommend as a result of today's war are:
Overall the impression I have is that nobody likes being beaten quickly (or when they can't control themselves). Change your equipment, use a weapon that isn't your best, use a shield instead of a second weapon. Basically think defensive.
We will once again focus on trying to design smaller events that will pit one team of six against another team of six. (roughly) These events really need participation by players, our difficulty for well over a year has been a lack of participation and planning outside of the game. If you want to be involved let Zekan or Balar know (via e-mail) and we'll try to get you connected with the commander leading an event.
Wednesday April 11, 2001
Lord Balar,
I have urgent news concerning our enemies. It appears as if this Zekan is not as weak as first thought. He has through arts unknown to me, summoned at least two high level necromancers to do his bidding. If we are not at full strength to defend High Hold the consequences could be dire indeed.
Your Humble Servant
Kieel
Kieel,
Other sources indicate Zekan has been even more successful in recruiting. I still do not believe the Forces of Darkness can match the strength of Lanys T'Vyl's army but I also fear that our forces have weakenned too. This could be a costly battle!
- Balar
Tuesday April 10, 2001
Our spies report that Zekan intends to lead the FoD against High Hold Keep. Balar will be gathering a force of knights to march from Freeport to High Hold Keep to alert our guards and defend our home once again. We defeated Lanys T'Vyl and her army once, we can do it again.
Please note: We intend to try a bit more "realistic" approach to combat. We are going to allow fighting to the death. This does not mean that you should hunt down your opponent until you kill them. This means that if they do not back off or flee then it is "ok" to finish them off. Remember, respect your opponent and select a target that is roughly your level. Their is no honor in slaughtering off the low level characters!
FoD now has several level 40 to 50 characters - respect all of them regardless of their level! In particular Balar and Zekan need to be able to lead and control the event, while they serve as focal characters around which to rally they should not be the focus of your attacks (don't kill either of them - they should be the last to fall).
Do not show up for this event if death is unacceptable for your character. Only the truly brave should come to defend Balar and High Hold Keep.
Monday April 9, 2001
We are looking into running roleplay events with full combat (fight to death). Naturally if your enemy flees it would be honorable to let them retreat. Please send e-mail with whether or not your character would be willing to die for more realistic events. When possible we will try to have Blesser available for res.

Thank you all for the comments about the issue of "killing innnocents". It's been brought to my attention that the line between good and evil is difficult to discern. Evil and good are not necessarily found along racial heritage. Officially the Forces of Light will not interfere with our members pursuit of justice. If some members actions do not make sense, we must trust that they had good justification.

Bera resigns as members of FoL lose sight of their morals.
Lord Balar,
I , Bera Serpentum, hereby tender my resignation from the Forces of Light. After due consideration, due to the direction certain members are apparently headed with regard to the killing of innocents and civilians. I have previously raised concerns on this matter publically- which caused some arguments over it (ie- gypsy killing in Rathe mountains - I told FoL people would not be aiding in that - to not expect healing or aid if I was in area as I would not be a party to such a crime). I cannot condone the killing of dwarves to gain better standing with the Giants (that have long been our enemy). I deeply regret having to come to this decision- but I can not condone the corruption that has seemly crept into the very leadership of FOL.
With Deep regrets- I depart
Sincerely- Bera

A report from Ambassador Castro:
Lord Balar,
This and the final raid ran for me for a long time went off fairly flawlessly.
Manyong Mistmore will not forget our attack anytime soon. First our Forces gathered
in the grave yard of Mistmoore Mannor for our initial assult into the mannor,
most arrived early and those who didn't still managed to make thier way into
the vile building. The Following people came:
We also had a couple of friends show, Tootmammie an old ranger friend of mine and Belek our ever good friend and ally.
We occupied the Bedroom area of the mannor and from there based our operations and forays into the heart of the Keep. In the end we held Mayongs Library, Throne room, and even his crypt. nothing that his vampires and deluded followers attempted could drive us from our spot. Though we had several deaths. Belak used is skills to summon them back. In the course of 6 hours we completed our mission. Bauvier, Kaleen, and Karmeth all gained the hilt of the soulfire. In addtion to the hilt we collected 3 advisors robes, 1 dimondine earring, several flasks of essense of moonlight, 1 skull shaped ring, and a sacrifical dagger. So much mistmoore grantie dropped that all the Palidans can complete their Holy Armor. Also Karmeth and Roars advanced in skill and ability. All in all if was Forces of Lights finest hour.
I salute our guild and wish Bauvier, Karmeth, and Kaleen much success in the next stage, Taking down Lucen of Freeport.

Rumors
of FoD activity near Freeport led Balar and Nabot to investigate. With Zekan's
vocal bravado lately we feared that he might attempt something. They stopped
in at the Hogcaller's Inn. The barkeep, Swin Blackeye, seemed nervous. Balar
and Nabot pressed for information and found out that Lady Feeni was staying
at the Hogcaller's Inn. Racing up to her room they found Lady Shae distraught.
Lady Shae blurted out, "They've hauled her right out of bed, naked!"
Piecing the information together it was concluded that the Forces of Darkness had abducted Feeni right from her bed as she lay sleeping! Quickly we organized and attempted to cut them off before they could reach Nektulos. Unfortunately Zekan and his evil cohorts were too quick. Balar organized three groups consisting of Dolean, Dika, Nabot, Drakinous, Lonyx, Zephyrx, Rhyrhy and Manderyn.
Our forces proceeded into Nektulos and discovered that Zekan was planning some sort of ceremony invoking Innoruuk. His plan was to pledge Feeni's soul to Innoruuk in return for her body in the physical world. Zekan planned to wed Feeni!
We charged the bridge but were immediately met by the FoD and the dark elf guards. In a fierce battle we finally retreated. In was apparent that some of our younger members while brave, were in grave danger. Balar led the troops west and north, swimming across the river and further north looking for Feeni. We battled stone and iron guardians until we met up with Kieel near the Lavastorm entrance.
With Kieel bravely by our side we fought our way south. Soon Kieel spotted Feeni and we formed a protective ring around her as Dika tended to her. Luckily we were in time! Dika was able to restore enough health to Feeni that Nabot could safely carry her body. With Nabot carrying Feeni we made our way back toward East Commons. In a safer location we tended to Feeni again and she regained consciousness.
Zekan was talking very bravely and sounded like he was eager to replace Morkano as leader of Forces of Darkness. Apparently word reached Morkano inside Neriak and he soon appeared. Zekan and Morkano exchanged words. Clearly Morkano didn't appreciate Zekan's treacherous words. Morkano drew his sword and they engaged in battle. Zekan's powerful magic gave him an early advantage and it looked like Morkano would fall quickly. Morkano then called forth Innoruuk's power and rained down blow after blow on Zekan. Soon they both appeared to be suffering near mortal wounds. Zekan's youthful endurance kept him alive as he put the final blow into Morkano. Many of the Forces of Light looked on as Morkano's lifeblood poured out into the forest ground.

A letter from Ambassador Jaelithe:
To Lord Balar of High Hold Keep from Ambassador Jaelithe of Marea.
Greetings, my Lord!
My apologies for my long absence. I have been busy researching the location of the final fragment of the ancient spell we seek. Although we know that such a fragment is held by your enemies in Neriak, your lieutenant, Lord Castro, has firmly informed me that no direct assault on that city may yet be attempted. Additionally, no spy has successfully located the Seers or their library.
Fortunately, my researches of ancient texts in Erudin and Felwithe have suggested another possible location - the ancient Combine Temple of Cazic-Thule, buried within the Innothule Swamp. Although now over-run by lizardmen, it is very possible that something might be salvaged from within and as such I humbly request the assistance of your noble Battle-company, for I have no army of my own and am weak in battle magic.
In return, I shall grant to you a generous portion of the treasure brought with me - and an alliance with our city against the evil races of Kunark.
Your humble servant,
Jaelithe of Marea,
Erudin
And a reply from Balar:
Ambassador Jaelithe,
Research can be a time consuming activity.
Indeed, a full assault on Neriak would be foolish at this point. I shall consult further with Castro and my other officers and we shall organize an investigation of the Temple of Cazic Thule.
I invite you to attend our upcoming tournament at the arena. While you are visiting and admiring the skill of our warriors we shall take some time to review the information you have found and shall plan a strategy for dealing with the lizardmen of the temple of Cazic Thule.
Sincerely,
Lord Balar of High Hold

A report from Ambassador Castro:
Milord,
Our forces are gearing up and preparing to face this new threat of Morkanos.
While Blackfear was a surprise in someways, I guess you can never really trust
a Tier'Dal. I only think my glad that I never gave him the unholy reaver that
I recovered from lower Guk. My sources already place this "Lord" Zekan
as a weak second even to Hecuva. We should not fear his presance for a while.
It seems that the forces of darkness have learned from their mistake and infiltrated our capible group. Fortunatly those who have been with us for the long haul are still extremly loyal and await your word.
For the momment High Hold Keep is safe. I will not take Zerkans threats against our members lightly, Zerkan will be taught a lesson in patience. From what I learned in 12 hours time he tipped his hand too early, and Forces of Darkness will once again realize what it means to triffle with our capable guild.
On a further note, Roars reports that she and Rexton were aiding the good folk in Befallen, saving them from the hordes of skeletons swarming on them. This included members of Fod. Roars points out that she is smart enough to know not to tangle directly with a shadowknight that is clearly more powerful then her.

Bad
news! Morkano has recruited Zekan the wizard to build Forces of Darkness and
lead them against us!
Black riders have been spotted riding out from Nektulos forest!
Morkano has found a potential leader in Zekan the wizard. Zekan has been spotted in Befallen by Roars and Rexton.
Beware a troll named Gnurg.
Don't be swayed by their persuasive words, the path of Darkness is a false trail! They promise riches and success but they will only lead their people to misery and trouble.
Our Light shall shine forth brightly on our darkess hour.
This was received from Zekan:
Greetings Balar,
I must congratulate you on your guild's success. Our army has been reformed
and I have executed the officers who failed to serve our cause well. There's
a few reading this whom I have spoken too and my offer still stands to you,
in fact Feeni your presence alongside me ruling our fabled city, would gratefully
welcomed. Believe me when I say that our army is nearly ready to march upon
your stronghold of High Hold Keep, for it will be laid to ruin very soon. Castro
and Bauvier you make me laugh, saying our army has been destroyed, well friend
your members are leaving you too and a few have joined our growing ranks, and
a few more will if they know what's good for them.
Oh by the way Castro thanks for the invite to your wedding, and I hope your
fair lady stays when... Muhahahaha.
Till our paths cross,

A report from Ambassador Castro:
I have joined the Coldain in helping relieve the siege of the Ry'gor orc
hordes beset upon it.
Recently members of our guild explored the crystal caverns, a beatiful and yet
extremely dangerous place. all were awestruck by the sheer beauty of the mines.
Would the dwarven citidal of Kalidim be so lucky. Of the two full groups that
desended into the mines the more powerful one lead by Bauvier, with our pet
Troll, Blesser, Tanniex, myself and a repersentive from the Warders of Norrath
met with little resistance and was able to reach the Coldain where we fought
off some of the evil creatures assulting the rear of the fortress. The second
group consisting of Bera, Nabot, Feeni, Roars, Rexton, and a representative
from Sisters of Mercy. Did not fare as well. The orc of Ry'gor beat them back
with heavy injures.
A second assult led to the coldain fort was lead by Tannix with Nabot, Rexton,
Roars, our Warder friend, and myself. we were able to defeat several named orcs
and recoverd a frozen sword, a weight reduction bag and a skull cap with magical
properties. We also recovers lots of Velious weapondry. Unfortunatly the second
assult team met extreme odds. I am recouperating in the the coldain citidal
from many wounds I do not know how the others fared as I was seperated.

The Forces of Light and allies once again forged their way into Mistmoore. Many of the evil residents were slain. Ambassador Castro lead our stronger members into the castle while Balar and Delora with Roars, Rexton, Karmeth and Dolean kept the Graveyard safe.

A report from Ambassador Castro:
Nabot was successful in capturing the Ghoulsbane from the Shin Lord. To the suprise of all involved the Shin lord answered our summons in only an hours time. He also brought with him his legendary sword. Our able forces (Castro, Bauvier, and Nabot) quickly dispatched him. I have further news to relate, I have finally gathered some degenerated guk weed and completed the legendary paw of Opella. I am currently stationed in the Eastern Commonlands in an attempt to auction off this great item as well as other pieces from my collection. The depletion from the ranks of the Forces of Darkness continues. I think we are on the verge of total victory of Morkanos forces.
Goodgie reports that our allied clan Starfire is seriously depleted in the ranks as well. Perhaps the surviors of this clan would like to merge within our ranks of Forces of Light.
I have seen Drayco the druid, He has left FoL for greener pastures. He did not mention Utenlader, I fear the worse. I am hoping for a large gathering of our forces for this Saturdays attack on Mistmoore. The Anotonican bards report that Mayong Mistmoore has been increasing his recruits within the castle region.

In recognition of Toxy's persistance in pursuing the mysteries surrounding Safka, Toxy shall be recognized with the title of "Premiere Arcane Advisor to Lord Balar". Here is Toxy's report:
Lord Balar,
I report with good news. Recently while travelling through the distant lands of Kunark, myself and Lady Safka were given the oppertunity to meet up and exchange information. We met outside "Karnors Castle", a place filled with evil beings called the Drolvarg. Still carrying the etchings that Ambassador Castro had taken while we were deep in Dalnirs Crypt, I passed these on to Safka in hope that she may be able to make sense of the strange markings.
On a second note Lord Balar, I have been asked to inform you by Lady Safka that Rhyk has returned to her safely, It would seem that fate has shined on him this day, and he has faired better than most of us expected.
Even with this good news, Lady Safka explained, there are still many more questions that need to be answered, and her journey still continues in search of the truth.

A report from Ambassador Castro:
I bring news of events concerning the activities of Forces of Light.
This last Saturday our capible forces, well Kieel, Tannix, Rexton, Bera and myself. Met with representives form Sisters of Mercy and Wards of Destiny. We built two attack teams and pentrated the infected paw. Our first target was Brother Hayle of Rocet nife. He is held prisoner in the lair. In return for delivering the temple summons to him I recieved a mysterious key, with the message to take it back to qeynos and give it to Tyeken. After quelling two prison riots our group Pentrated deeper in the infected paw. I truly belive we have traveled places where no member of Forces of Light ventured before. After quick discussion we traveled to the lair of the Rosch Val L'Vlor, He holds the gnoll hide tome. Unfortuntaly we were unable to obtain the tome. Our final destination was the Tesch Val Kadvem who holds the Kisch Der Pavz. We were unable to reach this area as the defense was too great for our band of 12. We did battle with some gnoll judges and a gnoll executioner. For our effort there we captured Kurrpok splitpaw, he gave us a ruby pendant which Rexton holds.
The raid was a good success in further forging good ties with the Sisters and now the Wards of Destiny. Our guild and hopefully our new and old allies will be marching on Mistmoore Mannor. Date set for the 3rd of March at 1200.

A report from Castro:
Well Sir
After defeating...nay Slaying Hecuva in armed combat. Daneni Bayle returned the stolen Ring. It appears that FoD Releazied the danger they placed themselves in.
Furthermore. I was still able to assemble 6 or the orginal 12 we have set up for the raid following the awards/recognition ceramony. The 6 of us set up a camp at the pass leading into Kith from the Commanlands. Night fell and the evil creatures rose again from their restless sleep to continue the battle eternal in the forest. Our stalwart group took the sword to them this time. This time we did not flee in fear. This time the dead that walked the land failed to drive us back. Undead troopers, tortured healers, undead clerics, and other creatures to hidious to mention were all sent to eternal slumber at our blades. Truely Mithaniel Marr guided us. Undead shadowknights attacked us and were slain. Our utlimate victory came when we slew a great wolf. So for a brief time part of the forest surronding the commons was safe again.
To add insult to these tortured souls, other guilds were formed up in the hills near high pass hold with the goal to slay the ancient general who lead the Tier'dal army to their deaths at the the hand of your capable forces and Fironia Vie. If they succeeded I know not. We were not in contact for them.
I would like to report more good news. Lemikai sister to Wryn was married that same day in Kelethin. With my help we were able to obtain a bar of precious ronium as a gift for the groom. With her ablity to port from druid ring to druid ring. It took us only a record 3 hours RT to complete the precious bar.) Lemikai and myself thank you for imparting your wisdom upon us. To my knowledge she only needs to obtain a second stone of mistmoore granite to complete the ivy boots for her now husband.

Many guilds met this weekend and are forming an alliance (see the link near the bottom of our links if you desire to visit their message board). Our stance is that we support all guilds working together on Bristlebane to form the best community possible. We do not support any boycotts or interguild conflicts. An issue arose about FCFS (First Come First Served) vs using the EC (Event Calendar) for planning and reserving the high end spawns (the planes, Vox, etc). Apparently RoV (Ring of Valor) has decided the Event Calendar has too many flaws and is trying FCFS. We hold RoV in high regard and believe they are not taking actions to intentionally conflict with other guilds. We will continue to try and support any agreements that will make it easier for all guilds to co-exist peacefully.

Tannix, on a secret mission, was successful in penetrating the defenses of Neriak! See photo here! Here is Tannix's report:
Revenge has been taken, I slipped into the evil dark city of Neriak. The
guards were numerous, and rumours of the Evil army being understrength are greatly
underestimated. Using nature's power to invisible myself, I entered deeper into
the city, where upon I found a skull of a once great dark elf warrior, whose
name has since been added to their history books. I now present you with this
skull in retribution of the FoD who stole our Paladin's sacred fish from within
Freeport. Although this doesn't make us even, it will go someway to showing
FoD that we can match whatever they attempt to do. Perhaps something will need
to be sorted out for I know that Castro especially was deeply offended by the
FoD actions.

Nabot reports an army of zombies moving through Kithicor - see sketch here!
One of our members reports being conned by a player named "Teader". Our guild member showed poor judgement in allowing himself to be conned in this manner, but I would advise everyone to be wary of "Teader". Reminder: never give your password to anyone, not myself, not anyone claiming to be from Verant, nobody!

A note from Gaelson:
Gaelson Edzaer, Shaman and servant of the Forces of Light and Lord Balar unto the most noble Lord Balar; greetings!
I have returned to High Pass Hold and find it as infested as ever with those unpleasant goblis and orcs. However, this time I was not attacked on my entrance to the pass by those disgusting gnolls. I saw an enchantress beset by some high shaman of the gnolls and offered her assistance. As I did so a mighty enchanter materialized and made quick work of the beast.
I joined myself to a group of fighters in the mines below your castle and did battle for a time. Here I will to remain for a while. There is much work to be done. And, frankly, I am low on funds for some of the tasks ahead of me. The goblin miners and others do carry some valuables and cash that I need, so my struggle in the mines is not totally noble. I have the banded gauntlets and a mammoth rib bone needed to have my totemic gauntlets made, but I lack the dufanite and am only aware that this substance is frightfully expensive compared to my means.
I will be doing research on the sources for this material and an interested in hearing from any in the guild that might have some at a reasonable price or can point me to good sources for it.
My son Gaius Scipio has told me I should also visit Faydwer. So, I will at some point take my leave from your castle and go on a voyage to that destination.
I have heard that in my absence you lordship has taken a force to Misty Thicket and into the caves of the goblin Clan Runnyeye. I hope all went well on this raid!
- Gaelson
Saturday January 20, 2001
Our raid on RunnyEye was overpowering. The goblins hardly knew what hit them and we hauled out quite a bit of loot in a short time period. Several of us gained experience nicely too.
Friday January 19, 2001
Technical tip: this is a bit of an old tip but I wanted to make sure it was documented somewhere. If you have a high speed line (like DSL) you can edit a file called "datarate.txt" to speed up Everquest. The default value is 5.0. Values like 7.0 or 8.0 will reduce the amount of time it takes you to zone. Decrease this value if your connection isn't stable (ie you start getting disconnects more frequently).
Wednesday January 17, 2001
A note from Field Commander Nabot:
All guild members,
After the runnyeye raid on Saturday, Bauvier, Kieel and Nabot will be heading to Highkeep to do the major part of a good paladin quest. It results in a good shield which can also be worn on back. Anyway, back to the subject, any pallies in guild that also want to do this quest are welcome to come along and anyone else that wants to repeatedly kill a 32 necro. I would also appreciate help from a porter and someone who can track to finish my quest (Tannix maybe) Anyway, might be a bit of fun, cya all at Runnyeye.
FoL will stand forever,
- Field Commander Nabot Charlemagne
Monday January 15, 2001
Karmeth is a master blacksmith and is available to make all parts of banded armor if anyone needs it.
Force Commander Bauvier indicates that he is camping Dyllin Starshine in High Hold pass. He drops a no drop note that is necessary for druids to receive a +10 Wisdom book. If you wish to join Bauvier contact him and he will help you get this item.
Friday January 12, 2001
Kieel points out that our guild is listed on Allakazam's at:
http://links.allakhazam.com/pages/Everquest/Guilds/Bristlebane/more2.html
it's nice to see our guild/website getting such high ratings.
A note from Gaelson:
Lord Balar,
I have returned to Qeynos. The intrigues there are as bad as ever. I do not believe I should remain long here, if I want to continue living! The Forces of Light should look into this wicked place and see if they can clear out the underground! However, we have other things to do, so I hear.
I found a message from you to our brave guild calling for us to rally in Permafrost this Saturday. I shall be there, if I am able. My eldest son Gaius Scipio has found for me a sap of piety, which looks to be only a wooden club. However, it is charmed or enchanted by the forces of good. As a magical weapon, it will give me power over evil spirits! It should also assist with those cursed goblins that seem to infest every cave on Antonica, except the caves of Everfrost and Halas.
After this raid in Permafrost I will remain in Everfrost peaks and the tundra until I can secure a Mammoth rib bone. With that and some rare earth and a pair of banded gauntlets, which I have, I should be able to have totemic gauntlets! Then my hands will match my feet, protected by totemic armor!
As soon as I complete the task of making my gauntlets into totemic, I plan to return to your castle, Highpass Hold. My younger son, Fedaykin is battling the Orcs in Highpass. He is a warrior of the 17th class and fights them well. But, with the spells of strength, agility and dexterity as well as the trusty spirit of the wolf that I can aid him with and my new magic weapon, we should be able to teach those Orcs a thing or two! He has befriended an Erud, of all people. This dusky man, known as Sims L'Soloist, is in Highpass Hold down in the mines, using the power of the dead against the disgusting goblins there. My younger son, the more adventuresome one, it seems, has befriended not only an Erud, but a NECROMANCER from among them! Well, a friend of my son is a friend of mine. But, really, a necromancer?
I am developing a grudge against the frost giants. In my entire life I had only seen one before this return trip to Halas. It had invaded the very cave to Halas from Everfrost! Many a young warrior and shaman died that day. The guards were hard pressed to kill the beast as it scattered the young boys and girls that were just starting to venture forth. I was fairly new to adventuring myself then. I ran and watched the Macs take him down. But, since my return to Halas for my name ceremony, I have been attacked by two of the evil frost giants! (And lived to tell about it, even.) My charmed agility of the cat spirit and the spirit of the wolf are what saved me.
Looking forward to fighting by your side again.
Your servant and retainer,
Gaelson Edzaer

Yesterday the Paladins of Freeport were embarrassed by a FoD stealth raid on the Hall of Truth. Several of the sacred minnows were taken from the pond. One of the thieves was caught (Icerose) and interrogated, but no details of FoD plans were obtained.

Tomorrow we expect to put up a joint message board for FoL/FoD.
A note from Lumaden:
Lord Balar,
I am undertaking a quest to Befallen in an attempt to find the remains of Iilyana.
One of the many Teir'Dal living their may know something. It will be difficult,
as the skeletons on the floor all look the same, but I will find Iilyana. I
will then find a suitable place to give her the proper burial that I was unable
to give 5200 years ago.
Also, Tunare recently came to me in a vision, showing me a land of ice, colder
than the highest mountains of Everfrost. I can only assume that it was Velious.
From what I gather, the giants there have escaped the curse of The Rathe, and
are as powerful as they were before the War. The Ogre Empire crumbles, or so
I have heard, so the foul beasts could not truly stay unified as they tried
to. The way to defeating Rallos Zek lies in the completion of the curse of The
Rathe. While I prepare for a journey to Velious to destroy the Kromrif and Kromzek,
I will build my strength to what it was. I may even find the Star Blade, the
great weapon held by my father and his father before him and his and his and
his... With this weapon, and the strength I shall gain in the search for it,
perhaps I can complete the curse of The Rathe, leaving only Rallos Zek to be
defeated.
Also, I have heard that Duhee Midgetmoncher, the Ogre who has plagued me since
near the time I came to the Age of Turmoil, has joined up with the Forces of
Darkness as his former guild becomes weak. I must be truly cautious now...
I must set off from Freeport soon. I shall see you again, hopefully after a
funeral for my dear Iilyana. I still must give the items from the Squire Quest
to a Commander, are any currently in the Freeport area?
Your faithful vassal,
Squire Lumaden Starblade

A note from Gaelson (and a brief reply):
Lord Balar,
I have not yet returned to your castle and the High Pass area as I have started on some shaman quests as part of my entry into the higher orders. I am to hunt woolly mammoths and other great beasts to obtain material components to be used in charming my banded armor to make totemic armor. My first born son is remaining in the Halas and Everfrost area to assist me in my quests. I shall remain in this area until such time that I have obtained all the locally available material components for the charming spells. Then I shall return to High Pass and High Pass Hold to battle the infesting orcs and the goblins that have been discovered in the mines below the keep.
Perhaps we should stage a guild raid on the depths of the Keep for the members of the guild who would find such a raid challenging but not too dangerous. In my suggestion I am ignorant of how deep the mines go and how powerful the enemy is within the depths.
Also, another raid into Permafrost with a larger party would be entertaining. We do not seem to have such as could challenge the dragons, yet. But, since the community of ice giants has moved to Velious and only the stragglers are left in Permafrost. They are quite a threat for me alone. One injured me severely in only three blows, taking almost half my health away. However, had a strong, full party of half a dozen of my lord's retainers been present, this beast of a giant would have passed from this realm!
Speaking of quests, we should compile lists of quest items and where to get them for the members of FoL. Then, we could carry out a series of raids on these areas to assist our members in obtaining the quest items. Since my son and I are already compiling such a list for Shamen, we will gladly contribute the information to the guild. I suspect we will be also obtaining such a list for Necromancers, Warriors and Paladins as time goes by and will also gladly contribute from those lists.
Your loyal servant,
Gaelson Edzaer
Gaelson,
It is good to hear you did battle with an ice giant and survived. Indeed we shall rally some of our troops to see if we can succeed in taking some of them down. Delora and I shall remain in the Permafrost area for a while in this endeavor.

Gaelson's naming ceremony was a quiet, simple ceremony in Halas. Afterward our party ventured into Permafrost. Swarms of goblins attacked us but we beat them away wave after wave making our way to the "King Room". We found powerful Ice Giants guarding a doorway that is rumored to lead to the dragon "Lady Vox". Check the photos out!
A note regarding the disappearance of Lord Castro:
Lord Balar,
Our commander of the Knights of Truth did not return to the guild hall upon his appointed hour. He has not reported nor has been seen for some time. We are worried and the administrative backlog is getting worse everyday. There is also a surge of power within the Miltia in East and West Freeport that needs to be checked out.
Our spies reported that Castro was seen in Fironia Vie heading to meet someone in the Lake of Ill Omen. Other adventurers returning from the lake region report that Castro was seen meeting with an Iksar monk in the goblin mines in that region. We are nervous of the reasons why a holy knight of Mithanial Marr would want to meet with a fiend of Cablis. Could your group learn of his where abouts? We fear that this Iksar has plotted a trap with the Evil of that vile land.

Kieel is looking for more members to join his "Hammer of Justice" team. They typically adventure from 4 PM to Midnight Eastern Time.
Gaelson has sent another update to his bio. Check it out, it tells of how he came to this point of being called back to Halas for his naming ceremony.

A note from Rloarn to Toxy:
Toxy,
Hail and well met friend.
You do not know in anything other than name as yet, although I believe my Lady has made my actions known to you. My name is Rloarn, envoy of the House of Fairheart.
Forgive me if my words are simple, a warrior plain and honest am I. I have been entrusted with searching out the darkness that is tracking my Lady and smiting it from this world.
I must admit that much of the word I hear of plots and mysterious magical powers is beyond my understanding. I do my House's biding, no more no less, but I do with all the honour of the gods.
I have received word that you carry scrolls that are of importance to My Lady and I have been tasked with delivery of them.
You can find me in Freeport for now, a meeting place we can arrange after contact.
I trust this note will find you safe and still in possesion of the scrolls.
Till then stay safe,
Rloarn

A report from Commander Tannix,
Lord Balar,
While roaming around Norrath in search of activity from our evil foes the Forces
Of Darkness, my travels brought me to South Karanas, exploring the area I came
across weird looking creatures of half horse half man breed. Although these
creatures bore me no malice, I saw numerous people fighting these creatures,
who I might add fight strongly and bravely. In the distance I noticed a few
hills with four spires protruding from the ground, thinking this may be an evil
worshipping place I choose to nvestigate the area. Upon reaching the hills Gnolls
by the name of Mesch Tech were guarding the area, these Gnolls I might add are
alot more powerful then those I encountered at Black Burrow. They fight with
finely made steel weapons and magically enchanted Split Paw armour. It was then
that I noticed a hole in the ground behind the hills. I ventured into this hole
and it lead to a deep dark dungeon filled with these Gnolls. Using natures power
to make myself invisible to these creatures I went further into the dungeon,
which I now know is named Spilt Paw. The dungeon is vast and filled to the brim
with evil Gnolls.
Shortly my Lord with your blessing I will gather an army from the ranks of Forces
Of Light to raid this dungeon and investigate want the evil Gnolls are up to.
I think this would be a worthwhile exercise for all we know they may amassing
an army down there, which could threaten the already slight balance of evil/good
in Norraith.
Also I have spoken to Keystone who believes that a powerful necromancer lives
in the dungeon who holds in his possession a powerful necromancer spell book,
which hopefully Keystone may be able to understand.
Your Servant
Tannix
Natures Vengeance.
And Balar's Reply:
Commander Tannix,
Aye, the half man, half horse creatures are known as centaurs. They are great craftsmen and have forged wonderful armor, of which I wear some. It is my desire that the Forces of Light do not battle the centaurs but rather attempt to forge even better relations with them.
Indeed we should investigate the evil building in Split Paw and I support your gathering our forces to battle whatever evil you find there. I shall attempt to make my way there myself soon. If you can gather our forces either on their way to Halas or on their way back from Gaelson's naming ceremony we should be able to besiege Split Paw in force! Please contact Force Commander Bauvier to further organize our troops.

Another report from Lord Castro:
Milord,
The turn out for which I hoped never materialized. It was on a short order,
so I am not too surprised. Toxy, Bera, Strag, Keystone, and myself entered the
crypt. As Safka told, the upper levels were held by entranced slaves of all
races. Erudian, dwarf, goblin and Iksar were seen, and slain enroute into the
depths of the tomb. We located the temple that Lady Safka and party met their
ill-timed doom. In there we made a second copy of the rubbings that Safka made
and we intend to give them to her as soon as possible. Toxy has the rubbing.
Unlike Lady Safkas ill fated group, we were able to hold the temple with little
effort on our part.
Of course the Elder from the Felwithe Council was not there nor was Safka's betrothed. Nor did we find any sign of them. Keystone did locate a letter, hastily written by Safka's intended. It summed up what happened after her port out. They seemed to have escaped the temple and ran deeper into the crypt where the elder was slain by a Kly crusader. Safka's intended went into hiding. No more was written. We fear the worse.
So our group searched for this crusader kly who hid from us. We also hunted down the overseer, the head Kly of the crypt. We figured he might know the fate of Safka's friends. Perhaps we could find the remains and return with them. In our attempt to hunt down the overseer Keystone broke and ran like a craven Teir'dal (ooc he went link dead, was not his fault) A kly guard escaped and returned with reinforcements. Hard pressed, Toxy evaced us out of the crypt. In doing so he was mortally injured. For his actions I name him Hero with Bera of Halas and Strag now belonging to Evermore, as witness.
I have more in a forth coming letter.

A report from Lord Castro:
MiLord,
It has been sometime since I last wrote a letter to you. I hope the Antonica
bards can get this to you in short order.
1) Concerning the raid to Mistmoore Manor. The Sisters and I made for and held
the tower guarding the entrance to the manor. Many foul vampires and Tier'dal
necromancers and Wizards stood ground there and attempted to force us from our
position. We held out and repulsed many attacks from both the front and the
rear. Our goal was to obtain a piece of granite from the Gargoyles from within
so Ursafury Ghostbear, a ranger of prominence within Sisters of Mercy could
complete her suit of Ivy armor. After many hours of assaulting the stronghold
and defending from counterattacks we were successful. The combined guildraid
was a success. I hear that your party and the third and possibly fourth group
that held the path to the graveyard and the graveyard itself ultimately succeeded.
I hope that the deluded Tier'dal of Mistmoore Manor long remember our raid.
2) Kunark, I have been traveling extensively in the wilds of this vast land.
Here is my report, The dracnids are not a creation of the Iksar but a creation
from Mistmoore Manor itself. These Tier'dal must have been warped by the vampire
lords dire magics. The Lake of Ill Omen is still under massive attack from mercenaries
and Iksar. I wonder if the Sarnaks are thinking of moving the stronghold. In
the frontier mountains, I found it overrun with Giants and strange molemen.
All of these creatures are hostile and should be avoided if traveling alone.
I finally penetrated the overthere, a vast plain full of Iksar ruins and the
infamous Tier'dal outpost. I am sorry to report the Tier'dal scouts have control
over most the area. If you are dedicated to the light, watch your back, the
dragoons show no mercy. More alarming is that in the center of the plains there
is gorge full of creatures called scorpi, they are simuliar to the dracnids,
except they are twisted shadowknights. I am unsure if this change was willing
or not. The more evil people wandering the plains inform me that these "creatures"
are friendly to Tier'dal and possibly other evil races.
Finally, I have gathered news of Safka's mission into the crypt located in the warsliks woods. It appears that her betrothed and the Elder from Felwithe met their fate there. I feel our guild should make an attempt at recovering the bodies or determining if they are even still down below. I shall shortly launch a raid there on 16 December 12PM CST. This will be my last major act as a member of our guild. Administrative duties call me back to North freeport. There is rumor of a resurgence of power with the militia.

A note from Gaelson:
Lord Balar,
Your realm is truly infested with orcs, goblins and not a few gnolls. I have gained much experience battling the orcs in the passes leading to Highhold from the Kithicor Forest, (which is a another place infested, but with frightful things!) Soon I think I will leave the passes and orc battling to younger adventurers. But, the goblins! They must all be some form of cave beast as those outside of misty are such cave folk and your mining efforts in your castle have turned up many. Indeed, it seems your castle is threatened with overrun from within!
I have obtained the experience for the 20th order of Shamen. However, I have not yet returned to Halas to be confirmed and receive a surnam
