GUILD NEWS
==========
A temporary levels limit of 1-20 has been imposed on guildwar events to reflect the fact that very few FoD characters are currently above 20.

As the strength of the FoD grows, the limit will be raised.

Under these rules, no character above level 20 may actively participate in Guildwar.  You may still of course roleplay!

Exceptions:

Anyone wishing a second character to be invited into either guild (temporarily or otherwise) whilst this ban is in force, should get in touch - he or she would be very welcome!  There are also always a number of NPC roles up for grabs.

News from Neriak
================
This has been a good week for our Forces!

Firstly, Lord Castro, aided by Winerose, Wryn, Tinshop and Sanamwen of the Foe threw down the gauntlet to the Dark, taking the bridge in Nektulos.  Several of
our number took up the challenge and duelled Wryn and Sanamwen.  If the Light triumphed, we would reveal our plans, if we triumphed, the Light would withdraw their forces.  The Dark won the engagement, led by Exaar, and the Foe withdrew!

On Friday, Lady Katlinel of the Foe led a force into Befallen, with a further force led by Lord Greyrobe guarding the entrance.  Many of our number, including
Lord FaerVeldrin, Tzzizt, Exaar and Dedari assaulted the entrance, but to no avail.  Katlinel escaped the city with two vital clues to the ancient spell of Befallen -
an ancient book and a mouldery letter.  Mata trailed Katlinel and others as they exited Befallen, and overheard them discussing a plan to take both to Felwithe
to be translated.  She successfully rallied our forces to intercept Katlinel at Freeport and she was met there and defeated!  The book and letter were taken from her
unconscious body by Mata and delivered safely to the library in Neriak.

On Sunday, Keystone entered Neriak to retrieve the book and letter from the library.  As a Teir'Dal, he was trusted by the guards and allowed in without question.  Daneni and Hecuva of the Dark entered Neriak and apprehended him, but a passing guard, seeing a human and apparent traitor attacking a respectable citizen, joined the fight on Keystone's side, with catastrophic results!  Keystone was thus able to enter the library unopposed and steal the two items.

Concerned for the welfare of the halfling spy, ordered hunted down and killed by the Queen, Keystone challenged the bruised Hecuva and Daneni to honorable combat.  If we won, the spy would surely be captured and executed, if Keystone won, the spy would be allowed to leave Nektulos unmolested.  Despite a
titanic effort against a superior enemy, Keystone triumphed and the spy walked free.

Exaar and others chased Keystone into Befallen, in an attempt to recover the book and the letter, but he managed to evade them.

Daneni and Hecuva vented their fury on Nektulos' remaining halflings, slaying a great number of them.

Finally, Lady Kyrisis met Lady Katlinel of the Foe who delivered to her weyrgeld for the dishonorable conduct of the Forces of Light in Freeport.  This will be distributed to our forces by Kyrisis.

Kyrisis also recruited several new volunteers and reluctantly accepted the services of the Queen's former advisor, a priest of Innoruuk, a man much advanced in years, now forced by his Queen into active duty!

The Threat from the Sea
=======================
NEXT EVENT -- Sunday August 27, 3pm Eastern
              Rally East Commons, Nektulos Zone

The Foe have received word that the halfling spy is hiding in Rivervale, awaiting contact.  He knows something!  Daneni's spies have learned that Ambassador Jaelithe has been nosing around the Arcane Scientists building, asking awkward questions - what is she up to?  Furthermore, it turns out that Keystone did not steal the book and the letter after all!  Perhaps the halfling has it?  The Light will seek to reach him - we must prevent them!

Rally to our banner!

NOTES ON ROLEPLAYING
====================
Finally, a FAQ on some of the things we've been doing in our campaign so far:

Q. What on earth is a player NPC?!
A. A player NPC is a character controlled by a referee or volunteer for plot and roleplay purposes.  These are typically lightly twinked "newbie" characters and
are generally - but not always - unguilded.  Recent examples have included Katerine, Pyxxy, Jaelithe, Samenye and the 4 contacts met by the FoD in Freeport.

Q. That book from Befallen is just that little book you can give to the PoD to become a Player Killer isn't it?!
A. Unfortunately, we don't have the power to create unique items in EverQuest.  For this reason we have to be inventive!  We ask you to use your imagination in this
situation and see beyond the technical dimension of the game into the world of Norrath that we're conjuring up for you.

Q. How can my character, eg, spy on the Arcane Scientists to see what they're up to?
A. Discuss your plans with your Commander.  He or she will contact us (Katlinel or Kyrisis).  Your proposed actions may form the basis for an event (or you may simply be told what you found out).

Q. If my enemy emotes that he just slapped me, what does that mean exactly?
A. That you just got slapped!!

Q. Is the conflict between the Light and the Dark "fair"?
A. As much as possible.  Officers of both sides communicate via email to co-ordinate events and decide victory conditions. All events that affect one side or the other have thus far been decided by either duels between equals or open conflict.  However, this is not team sports, it's roleplaying - sometimes there'll be imbalance.  The main aim is to advance the plot and have fun!
