GUILD NEWS

New rules for Guildwar have been posted -- please see:
http://www.starfireresearch.com/darkness/guildwarrules.html

Thanks to all who gave their feedback after the Freeport event.

You'll note below that we are now advertising more and more "mini-events".  These should help get everyone involved, and will help further the campaign.  If you're interested in running a mini-event, get in touch: you provide the organisation, we'll provide the plot.

The two mini-events listed here are based around ordinary hunting trips -- this shows how with a little effort everything we do can be worked into the ongoing story, making all our EQ play more meaningful and fun.

Success in Freeport!
====================
EVENT REPORT -- for Sunday August 13 event, Freeport

The Forces of Darkness triumphed in Freeport Sunday, despite heavy losses.  All four fragments of the ancient spell of Befallen were successfully delivered to our
contacts amongst the Arcane Scientists without our Foe even learning of our plans!

The spell is made up of four fragments, each to be cast by a powerful magus of each of the four schools of the arcane.  The spell channels power from a distant and
deadly source, containing it in a suitable gemstone for the powering of enchantments.

The Wizard casts his fragment to open a Gate to the source, the Magician channels the deadly energy, the Necromancer abjures the evil and purifies the power and the Enchanter traps it within the stone.

When the humans attempt to cast this spell, they will bring down upon their city the very same evil that once destroyed Befallen, for their Necromancy is weak and we have sabotaged the necromantic fragment.  Thus, the power they channel will be corrupt.  Men's minds will turn to thoughts of evil, the boundary between Life and Death shall be weakened and the very dead shall walk.

<laugh!>

Is it not a glorious thought?

Indeed, no safe version of this great spell yet exists - our best Necromancers in Neriak are working on the faulty necromantic fragment, but are struggling to deal with problems with the other three - alas we Dark ones are weak in these lesser schools.

BOOTY FROM FREEPORT!
====================
By way of a thank you to all those who bravely sacrificed themselves for the cause of the Dark, Lady Kyrisis will be distributing magical silver jewelry and fine steel weapons at the next major event - come and claim your share of the loot!

Penetration of Befallen
=======================
NEXT EVENT -- Friday August 18, 5pm Eastern
              Rally at the Nektulos Zone, East Commons

[Mini-event, recommended for those levels that may gain xp in this dungeon]

Heartily fed up of knowing nothing of the Foe's plans, Lady Katlinel will lead a further assault on Befallen this Friday in an attempt to discover more about this
cursed spell!

Queen Cristos Thex will surely smile kindly on any servant of the Dark who prevents her!

[OOC: This is a hunting mission, with plot.  FoD who wish to participate may form their own hunting party, and  seek to prevent Katlinel.]

The Halfling Spy
================
EVENT - Sunday August 20, 12pm Eastern
        Rally at the entrance to Neriak, Nektulos Forest

[Mini-event, recommended for levels 9-13]

Daneni and Hecuva have discovered the identify of a filthy spy of the Light - a halfling hiding out in Nektulos Wood.  It is believed that it was this spy that tipped off Katlinel about the meeting between the ambassador Jaelithe and the Lady Kyrisis.

Daneni and Hecuva's strategy is very simple.  They will simply slay every halfling they encounter until the miserable wretch surrenders!

[OOC: This is a hunting mission, with plot, hence the levels recommendation.  FoD of higher levels may still participate, but will be asked to remain ungrouped for XP reasons].

Want to organise a mini-event of your own?  Email
Katlinel (westphalia@iname.com) or Kyrisis (rhhyn@aol.com).

The Threat from the Sea
