Lady Carer,

After many months travelling Norrath in my studies, I have finally decided to resume my adventuring. Unfortunately, my place in the war on Light will never be the same. I have gained much knowledge of the lands and ways of Norrath in my absence, and, realizing the power in knowledge, will continue to spend most of my time studying in isolation. Since such a limited amount of my time will be available to spend in your servitude, I must relinquish my title of Ambassador of Darkness. Instead, I offer my infinite wisdom and insight to you and your minions. Should any of your lesser imps have need of my knowledge, they have only to seek me out. I will continue to travel the lands of Norrath, and I will lend my power to your cause any time it is needed when I am not tied up with research.

Update on the Cherryh plot:

Apparently Sunaien has turned Cherryh over to Jonney and they will soon be making their way to the bandit camp near Qeynos. If you are in the area try to provide protection for Jonney for the Forces of Light might make a rescue attempt!

A new plot develops:

Kaee slips in to the city under the cover of darkness this is not her normal way of going about business but today it is not normal business but a dark one, One that could lead to her own death.

Finding the secret meeting place she stops and checks that there is no one following, no it all looks clear, out of the darkness steeps Ghorr a large troll a old time friend of kaee’s and one she knows and trusts, and would never hand her in to Carer for what they where about to do.

There is a note passed from Ghorr to Kaee she opens it and smiles she says in a low voice “ it has started then” and they both slip away back into the darkness.

On Firiona Vie the Iskar team will be getting together on Saturday at 7 PM Central Time.

Tuesday September 25, 2001

We need to send an emissary to meet with this "Smutch" character to see if his plans fit with into our schemes.

Tuesday August 14, 2001

Please note the upcoming guild meetings. Also to improve moral we'd like to encourage everyone to say "hi" when they log in.

"Duty Stations" (recommended adventuring areas) has been posted - thanks to Sunaien.

Monday July 30, 2001

Our rivals the Forces of Light are starting to be successful at raising funds again. Our spies report their treasury now exceeds 2000 PP! We should perhaps plan more "KNR" missions (Kidnap And Ransom).

Monday July 9, 2001

Lord Zekan,

I've been successful in capturing the wood elf tramp, Cherryh. And I've obtained the book of lore she was carrying. For now I've left her safely guarded in Qeynos. Unfortunately it appears we need her knowledge of a contact in Freeport and hence I will have to travel with her to Freeport to unlock the next key tidbit of information.

humbly,
Sunaien Shadowfire

Friday July 6, 2001

I've reviewed the resource links and removed a couple dead ones and updated a few others.

Thursday July 5, 2001

Lord Zekan,

It has come to my attention that nearly every single member of the Forces of Light has gone seeking treasures in Kunark. I have already ventured to the temple of my lord, Solusek Ro, and spoken with Terblyn. He and I have much common ground and he revealed nearly all of the secrets of Translocation to me. Now, with all haste, I will be heading to Qeynos to catch Cherryh while she is drunk and unprotected. It will be weeks before Swift Strike returns from the Lake of Ill Omen, and by then I will have all the details of Cherryh's mission, and maybe even a new servant-girl, if all goes well with her. The Forces of Light have greatly underestimated my alliances.

humbly,
Sunaien Shadowfire

Graendel: raises the sacrificial knife and plunges it into the halfing's heart. A hidious wail is wrenched from her throat as once again, she casts her words into the realm of the dead...

Hail Spirit of the Great One,

I thank you for your belief in the power and purity of my hatred. I shall set forth immediately to investigate the activities of the cursed Cherryh and her fellow FooL's. The mad wizard Xanath sent word to me after the debacle at the gypsy camp hinting that she was headed to Qeynos, so I think I shall begin my seach on the west coast of Antonica.

I shall try and rally more support from within our forces. We cannot allow the FooL's to continue unmolested this way.

Graendel: Sinks to her knees, eyes rolling.

Tuesday July 3, 2001

Lord Zekan,

Word has come that the cutsie wood elf Cherryh was seen skipping and singing her way west across the plains of Karana. No doubt she is in Qeynos by now.

Faithfully yours,
Utania

I've added a link under the story line section called "History" to make it easier for players to access the historical information that lead to the creation of the FoL vs FoD concept.

Our spies have noticed potentially important information from the Journal of Dorvias N`Keth:

Innoruuk preserve me for my hate grows stronger still this day. Blasted Mistmoore, always with his foul nose in that which does not concern him. Teir`Dal he may have been but that was long, long ago. He has grown arrogant and no longer swears fealty to Innoruuk or any other. The Bloodmoon was mine to protect, mine to care for! However... he is a powerful ally. His "help" is neither needed nor welcomed but I do not doubt his ability to keep the stone safe. It may be that we loyal to hate might benefit from his allegiance in the future, so I do not wish to count him as enemy. He may watch over the stone for the time being, it might even serve to further complicate matters for the bastard Lanys T`Vyl, so I shall leave it be.

The Ring of Scale becomes a whole new concern. If the fool dragon Irin`ka Set was to be believed, then Trakanon's aid may soon be required, I don't care what Ashteth believes. Trakanon can be controlled; he has worldly desires and so can be manipulated. Further, his fury at the Ring of Scale itself will ensure his loyalty to our cause. It is Trakanon who might tip the scales in our favor when all is said and done... and perhaps as an added reward for all of my time invested, he might just do the thing that Irin`Ka Set failed to do- kill Zavo`Zatanov. Her arrogance and stubbornness will not go forgotten. It is only a fool that works against the will of Innoruuk, and there is no room in this world for the foolish.

What comes next should be interesting indeed. I have made no friends in the Ring of Scale and may very well find myself at their doorstep soon. This is yet another reason to retain the good graces of Mistmoore. I have never fully learned the inspiration of his silent war with the dragons, but if it may be used to the benefit of Innoruuk then so be it. The bastard child Lanys will not succeed in rebuilding Malevolence. That is the bottom line. That is the will of Innoruuk himself, and so shall it be no matter the cost.

Sunaien and Dranzomere successfully intercepted Cherryh and her protectors. Unfortunately we were outnumbered badly. A quick strike was made to slow them down and force them to camp at the Gypsy camp in North Karana. Xanath also served well by keeping an eye on Delora near Splitpaw. We should be able to keep an eye on Cherryh but we need more brave volunteers to help.

Lord Zekan,

After discovering that the Forces of Light we travelling to Rivervale to gather information, Dranzomere and I began travelling in their direction to spy on them. While en route, Xanath began scrying to me telling me that one of their members let it slip that Swift Strike, of the Forces of Light, were going to be travelling from Rivervale to Qeynos. Dranzomere and I made plans to ambush them and kidnap one of their members as they crossed the bridge to the northern plains of Karana. Using their typical cowardly tactics, they sent two very powerful members to scout ahead. Traeton and Clino quickly tracked Dranzomere and I down and forced us to retreat. I was sure that they would go to the gypsy camp to gather supplies and listen to rumors while their scouts continued ahead, so Dranzomere and I prepared a second ambush. During the chaos of the battle that ensued, the gypsies took the opportunity to beat us all senseless (I believe they wanted the information themselves). I am sure that such a defeat will delay the FoL's travels for many days. I was able to escape without too much pain and will be making plans to intercept them again with a larger army before they reach Qeynos.

humbly,
Sunaien Shadowfire

An e-mail was sent out this morning about our new roleplaying guildwar concept. If you didn't receive the e-mail you might want to check your status on the mailing list (send an email to Balar to let him know you have a new e-mail address or want to be included).

Sunday June 24, 2001

We have a new idea that we are looking to try. Clues / Plot / Story tidbits will be posted on the website every couple days (the first was the note from Terblyn to Sorko). This will involve players of FoL assisting the plot (protecting messengers largely) and FoD attempting to thwart them. This will involve turning on guildwar for weeks at a time (essentially on all the time).

Players should restrict their combat (don't hunt the other side). Feel free to have fun with stray encounters with each other. But higher levels should avoid hunting or killing lower level players! Fight with honor and if your opponent clearly flees let them go, don't chase anyone down to the kill. Your victory is in forcing them to flee. Most of the guildwar battles should involve the plot and random encounters between opposing sides as they attempt to assist the plot.

We suggest you continue to hunt like normal, in your normal areas. Don't pursue the plot just for the sake of the plot if it is going to take you to areas you aren't interested in going to. Certainly FoL and FoD can and may continue to group together for mutual benefit but be warned if anyone casts an area of effect spell you will be nuking your own party!

We strongly recommend you turn on /roleplay so that the other side doesn't hunt you! If you have any concerns please send e-mail to Balar. The leaders will be monitoring actions anyone that intentionally hunts down lower level players will be booted from the guild!

Good luck to everyone... see if you can find out what Balar and the FoL are up to. Information will be rewarded.

RL issues prevented many from attending the tournament so it was cancelled (and ad hoc battle arranged). We will try to reschedule the tournament for sometime in the future (perhaps the end of July).

We did hold one battle overseen by Balar. Fighting for the Forces of Light was Turminator and Dika. Fighting for the Forces of Darkness was Latchisis, Gallowbraid and Xanath. Turminator focussed on Xanath and brought him down quickly. Gallowbraid and Latchisis focussed on Dika and after a long struggle Dika was slain. Turminator had just too much of a level advantage and was able to defeat Gallowbraid and Latchisis resulting in a victory for Light.

Tannix is going to start organizing some raids, and these raids will be run using a different format from usual. All raids will be advertised on both websites, the message board and guild message of the day. When describing the raids Location, Time, Pick up points, any loot details i.e. need before greed and level range and amount of groups needed will be provided. The only way that you will be able to attend these raids is by e-mailing Tannix up to 24 hours before the raid starts. E-mail address will be supplied when the raid is posted. The reason for this is it will enable us to organize the groups evenly before hand, we will know who is coming and can change raid aims according. The only way you will be able to join late will be if we are short and we recruit in Guild Chat. Tannix will return an e-mail saying that you are in the raid. Also if we are going to be short of numbers Tannix will know before hand and can ask friends. Hopefully this will save the aggravation we have had in the past. So when we form you will know who the group leaders are and whose group you are in, where we are going, what the aim is etc, etc.

A guild "vision" has been posted to help clarify what our guild is about. Use the link on the left or click here to read it.

Sunaien's loyalty and hard work have been recognized with a promotion as an officer of Forces of Darkness. Carer is assuming day to day top leadership with Ylladrina as her second. Zekan shall remain in charge as Morkano was but no doubt piled under in paperwork as Morkano was.

The Forces of Light somehow got wind of our meeting! We must ferret out the spies among us. In battle we proved ourselves superior again. Bruzza deserves to have his bravery acknowledged for facing Balar one on one three times. Surely there is no finer ogre among us! Our tests proved today that our magics are able to provide invincible shielding for our troops. Their dwarven warriors were unable to touch those protected.

Monday June 4, 2001

A second tentative team has signed up for the tournament. Sign up now, before we end up cancelling the tournament!

Sunday June 3, 2001

The first team has signed up for the tournament. If you want to participate we need you to sign up as soon as possible.

Lord Zekan and Lady Carer,

After returning to the Desert of Ro, I travelled into its center to the Oasis of Marr to investigate the relationship between my lord, the Burning Prince, and the foolish Marr twins. For weeks I searched everywhere and found not a single written record of the history of this overgrown puddle. What I did find were rumors. Every night when the waters of the oasis were glittering in the moonlight the gypsies at the nearby camp shared stories. Hidden in the shadows behind one of their tents, I listened to tales of ancient lands and forgotten heros. Three nights I spent like this, and finally, their tales drifted to rumors of deserts and gods.

The elven druids of Takish-Hiz fought hard to stop the devastation caused by the Lord of Flame. As he dried up all the rivers in the Elddar Forest, the elves united their entire kingdom to make one last stand in the centre of their kingdom. The Sword of Flame crashed against the bonds of Love, and, when the dust settled, the assailant was gone. They had managed to fend off Solusek Ro's final assault and save the last lake in the Elddar Forest. Sadly, it was all for naught. With only one water source, the forest could never regrow. The elves left the Desert of Ro to join their kin in Faydwer.

The Burning Prince had his vengeance, and never bothered to destroy the small pool in the middle of his desert. Another god, however, saw power in this oasis. It was the only evidence that remained of the great battle between Tunare's druids and Ro's fire. Out of the remains of the greatest kingdom that Norrath had ever seen, Tarew Marr created his children. Drawing them up out of the water that he controlled, he created one to personify the druids' love and sacrifice and the other to embody the battle itself. Through this unity of Love and Valor, Erollisi and Mithaniel Marr were able to guide their new children, the Barbarians, into the Age of Enlightenment.

in Darkness,
Sunaien

/ooc I had been talking to Balar about gathering all the bits and pieces of info about the history of the Oasis of Marr and using some imagination to finally explain it. Hopefully this doesn't contradict anything. :)

Mordra bio posted.

Monday May 14, 2001

Greetings Lord Zekan!

News from the Karanas. Myself and my Shadow Group, with assistance from others of our force, entered the eastern stretches of my father's Empire Wednesday, with the aim of investigating the efforts of our brothers, the Bloodsabers, who, as all must know, are attempting to open a portal to their Lord, Bertoxxulous.

As you know, I am still sought by my father throughout Norrath, and thus took a big risk crossing his borders, but a risk that I agree needed taking.

Arriving via portal in North Karana, cloaked with shadows, we immediately noticed the sickly greenish palor that lies upon the land, and saw the blight that gathers there. Many farmers we talked to spoke of plagues - - of swarms of insects, blighted crops and green rain! And, they spoke true, for we saw all of these things, including the deadly swarms (now also seen as far East as the Commonlands of Freeport).

We decided to press on toward Qeynos, despite the twin risk to me of both my father and, if Castro speaks truth, my Uncle Kane. But, as we drew near that city, we heard report of agents of the Light sent to intercept us! Even as we drew close to the city, one of our number, Kaee, was captured and held hostage - and, by no less a person than Lord Kieel.

We approached him by the Qeynos Hills pass and challenged him. Would he dare face all of us?

Indeed he would!!

A mighty battle followed in which Lord Kieel and I traded blows whilst my friends supported me. Many times he almost struck me down, but I held firm, and the magics of Icerose, Kaee and Kyrisis were able to sustain me. When a druid out of Surefall sought to aid Kieel, Soulwhisper challenged him in turn, and he fled.

Although Kieel is indeed a mighty opponent, he was not able to defeat me thus aided, and as time wore on, I began to gain the upper hand, forcing him to retreat!!

Thus, our group must now be accounted a force to be reckoned with amongst both Light and Dark, and I may humbly consider my training to be complete.

Your humble servant,
Daneni Bayle,
Formerly of Qeynos
Knight of The Dead

[OOC]
As a side note, I actually got to see my first gm event on Thursday! Swarms of monsters attacked the West Commons, centering around the druid rings (I've never seen so many, the lag was horrible!) Calling for aid from enchanters, Byzah chain cast point blank area of effect nukes and dealt horrible amounts of damage! In one case, I got 62 monsters (and some druids - oops!) in a single casting, with pages and pages and pages of damage reports *laugh*. Sometimes it's fun to be a wizzie :)

A note from Sunaien:

My Lord Zekan,

While travelling in the Desert of Ro several months ago I encountered an orc named Ortallius. Strangely enough, this orc considered me a friend, as did his erudite companion, Rathmana Allin. I spoke to them for a while in the shade of Rathmana's tent and they told me a few tales about how they ended up in the desert together. Ortallius was primarily there to fight against the Dervish cutthroats that were camping on Solusek Ro's land. I told him that I, too, follow the ways of the Burning Prince, and he asked me if I knew why Solusek Ro had claimed this particular land. I had no idea, but Rathmana Allin said he had an ancient scroll from his homeland that bore the symbol of Solusek Ro. He believed it to be one of the historical documents written by early Erudite scholars, but it was in a language that he could not understand. He gave me the scroll and asked me to return to him if I ever found someone that could decipher it.

After travelling to Qeynos and enjoying several weeks of spreading Darkness in western Antonica, my mighty ogre friend, Bruzza, was challenged to a duel and had to head to Lake Rathetear. In his absence, I travelled to the continent of Odus in hopes of introducing our ways to the Erudites. After making a few alliances, I found someone well studied in the tongue of the elder Erudites. I gave him the scroll I had obtained from Ortallius and Rathmana Allin. It turns out that this scroll actually recounts the details of the fall of the great elven city Takish Hiz.

At the height of the elven empire, Solusek Ro began to grow jealous. In his anger, he targeted their most beautiful city, the only one they had yet established in what is now called Antonica. As the lakes and rivers around Takish Hiz began to dry up, druids were gathered in large numbers to try to battle the Burning Prince. Rain stopped falling and the druids were unable to do anything except slow the destruction. Eventually, they were forced to flee back to Faydwer and the once great city of Takish Hiz sank into the sands of the Desert of Ro.

your humble servant,
Sunaien, wizard of the 13th flame

Carer's bio is now posted. And here is a note from her:

My lord Zekan,

After hearing so much about Lord Balar's high keep, I had to see it for myself. So I went up there to see how easy it would be to attack this keep, after slaying six guards and a number of citizens, the forces of light realised that they where under attack. I was then confronted by Tannix one of Balar's Tree huggers, He made me laugh by offering to duel, knowing full well I could easily slay this low life without thinking about it, I accepted.

Because if I slay him it would be one less to kill later. So I said yes to his so called honourable duel, what I did not know, is that the Forces of Light are not honourable. As soon as Tannix started to die, they all jumped in and started to heal him, much to my frustration. Due to this I did not have the mana to fight them all, so I had to back off, and fight Tannix at a later time.

Because of this unhonourable behaviour I am going to hunt down and slay all the members of the Forces of Light that made me look bad. So if I was them I would not ever go to sleep or your nightmares will become real.

Carer (Zekan's Loyal servant, Leader of the Death Knights)

We need players to step forward and help build our own coffers like the Forces of Light are doing.  Forces of Light now have a large treasury of weapons and armor and some platinum.  Please note that you may purchase items from the FoL guild market at guild members prices!  Although we are enemies both guilds will work together for the advancement of all (we also work with the neutral guild Starfire and you can expect assistance from them... especially Delora).
