My parents were both more than adequate magick users. Much to their chagrin, I have no finger wiggling abilities whatsoever. So they thought I had inheritted none of their special gifts. I would soon prove them wrong. It became apparent as I grew older the magicks were in my sight. I could see further than all my friends.

I was outside throwing stones at some frogs, when a woman suddenly came out of nowhere and approached me. She said I had an excellent eye and wanted me to try her bow and arrow. She gave me some simple instruction and soon the frogs I was "playing" with were all slain. She told me of scouting and hiding. She intriqued me, not only with her looks but with the possibilties of a career as a scout.

She then asked me to follow her and she introduced me to a man who would be happy to train me in the arts of being a scout. He gave me a bow and a quiver of arrows and sent me outside to practice. I immediately ran home to tell my parents this wonderful news. They were not impressed, they asked me to reconsider this path and to try once again to learn the magicks of my family. For the first time ever I refused my parents, I loved the feel of the bow in my hands. We talked for hours, I then took them outside and showed them what I could do already without any training. Their eyes opened wide as shot after shot hit their intended mark. Relucantly my parents agreed to my choice. My father even gave me a gauche to use if needed. He would not tell me where he had gotten this weapon and I did not press him for the information.

I set off to my trainer, I was out of arrows and in need of further instruction.......
