Digby

The Spectacular Adventures of Digby!

Good day to you, reader of my ongoing adventures! I am known as Digby of Avalon.

I am keeping this journal to both teach and inspire. While I am new to adventuring and have not yet been through any spectacular battles or visited any hidden realms, I really do feel it's just a matter of time before I do.

I assure the reader that my adventures will soon become a thing of legend, and wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to speak to a friend and say 'I knew of Digby back when he was just an acolyte, I always knew the lad had great things in store for him' or even 'Yes, I actually met Digby in person. I gave him a gold so that he wouldn't have to take a break from fighting evil. He thanked me and actually touched my hand as the gold passed from my palm to his!'. Just imagine sharing in my glory!

But, enough of this, it is time to talk about me!

I suppose the best time to start is the present, and here I sit in front of my trainer in Prydwen Keep ready to begin my journey.

I'm really starting out rather poorly equipped, wearing no armor and bearing a fairly poor mace and shield, but I suppose one has to make due, don't they?

Now, all acolytes near Prydwen keep are to meet with Sister Gwendolyn upon arrival. .and let me tell you I was MORE than happy to meet her. Sister Gwendolyn is QUITE the specimen of womanhood. It’s hard not to wonder what’s under all that chainmail. Forgetting myself I attempted to entice her with my charms. When I failed at that I even tried to dance with her. Sadly all was to no avail, I left only with a quest

But at least I had a quest. Well, it seemed rather pedestrian actually, but I suppose one can't be picky when it comes to adventure, right? I simply had to speak with Sir Quait in front of the Keep. I immediately spoke with him and received a note to deliver to the guards at the bridge about an incoming attack! This WAS important! I immediately stepped out of the gate and ran to the bridge.

I don't know how I hadn't noticed on my trip to the keep, but the area around it is absolutely CRAWLING with vermin and creatures of ill intent. I was dismayed that the guards would let it come to this. I briefly considered slaying them all myself, but remembered my mission, which was of great import. I made a mental note to speak with the lord of the Keep upon returning about how poorly maintained the grounds were.

So after a light run I arrived at the bridge. I approached one of the guards and handed him the note. After a bit of reading he thanked me profusely and indicated that he wouldn’t mind if I helped out against the incoming horde. So I waited patiently for the evil to approach so I may slay them, besides, I could handle a couple of dead things, right?

A COPULE of dead things I could handle, but a whole horde? I think not! I immediately screamed and ran. .ahem. . I mean I valiantly allowed the guardsmen to perform their duties without interference.

On the way back I decided that perhaps I should practice a bit, and work my way up to full-fledged evil-slaying. On the way back I discovered what should be a fairly easy target. . a frog!

Imagine my surprise when the little beast immediately hopped up and bit me in the head! I was so surprised by the creature that I forgot to slay it properly and ended up rendered unconscious myself. . it was extremely embarrassing!

Upon my return to the keep I had a rather animated discussion with Sir Quait about the state of the grounds and the job that he and his men were utterly failing to do to keep it appropriately clean of vermin. Unfortunately, after I mentioned my encounter with the frog he began to snicker. I was so flustered I stomped off to clean the grounds myself.
